    Q:
How to service and repair the transmission pan on Chevrolet Camaro? Posted by Customer
    A:
Maintenance of the fluid pan begins by properly supporting the vehicle under a suitable height. A drain pan should be positioned beneath the transmission Oil Pan while you remove only the front and side pan bolts but leave the rear bolts at four turns of looseness. Use a rubber mallet to gently strike the Oil Pan before fluid drains from it. After draining proceed to remove the additional Oil Pan bolts so the pan with its gasket can be removed. The transmission case along with Oil Pan gasket surfaces require cleaning with solvent before air drying until the old gasket material leaves no residue. The installation process starts with placing the Oil Pan and a new gasket which must be followed by tightening the Oil Pan bolts alternately and evenly to 11 nm (97 inch lbs.). Complete the fluid filling process by using dexron iii or the alternative dexron iii standard and conduct a leak test on the Oil Pan gasket.

    Q:
How to replace the transmission pan on Chevrolet Suburban 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replace the Oil Pan begins with raising the vehicle before measuring transmission fluid loss because fluid in good condition can be reused. Transferring fluid from the Oil Pan requires you to remove Drain Plug and Drain Plug seal so the fluid flows into a suitable receptacle. Examine the fluid that drained while it is in the container. You should then take off 12 bolts that secure the Oil Pan before taking away the Oil Pan itself with its gasket. Read and analyze the magnet during inspection for the presence of big metal fragments because they show that the transmission might require new transmission units. You should keep the suction filter and seal in place when performing Oil Pan or gasket replacement alone. Pull suction filter straight down from its main housing position until you remove the old suction seal and filter provided you need to replace them. Remove all gasket residue from the main housing before eradicating any scratches that might create leakage. Install a new seal on the tube of suction filter before placing the filter and seal into the seal bore of the main housing. The seal must include its shoulder on the suction filter tube before insertion. Position the two m8 x 1.25 headless guide bolts in opposite Oil Pan mounting face corners before placing the gasket properly aligned to bolt holes. Position the gasket together with the Oil Pan securely over the guide bolts while securing them in position before applying two bolts. Complete installation of 12 bolts by tightening them to 27 nm (20 ft. Lbs.) before reattaching the Drain Plug with its seal and finally tightening the Drain Plug to 35 nm (26 ft. Lbs.). Perform fluid refilling of dexroniii automatic transmission fluid after lowering the vehicle while acknowledging that transmission cavities and external circuits contain remaining fluid despite the draining process. Inspect the transmission fluid level in the final step.
