How to replace the emblem/nameplate on the rear door on Chevrolet Express 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To change the rear door emblem and nameplate start by collecting a Heat Gun Model J 25070. Plastic tool layer to carefully detach the emblem/nameplate from its position. Remove all remaining adhesive from the body panel and emblem/nameplate surface using either 3M(R) P/N 07501 or an equivalent material. Clean the damaged panel with soap and water followed by drying it with a soft clean fabric. Combine 08984 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner with a clean cloth to remove residual glue. Then apply a 50/50 water and isopropyl alcohol mix with another clean cloth to clean the surface. Run the rear doors shut to set up a space for the emblem/nameplate. Place masking tape or magnets at the right spot. You should place the nameplate of the right rear door at 47.5 millimeters +/- 2 millimeters (D) from the vertical edge and 200.5 millimeters +/- 2 millimeters (A) from the horizontal edge. Trace a 200.5 mm +/- 2 mm (7.9 in +/- 0.1 in) line 200.5 mm from the lower edge and a 47.5 mm +/- 2 mm (1.9 in +/- 0.1 in) line next to it along the vertical face on the left rear door. During warm body work keep heating the body surface using the heat gun as needed and continuing the process when the temperature is less than 19°C (66°F). Choose double-coated acrylic foam tape like 3M(R) Super Automotive Attachment Tape and use 3M(R) 06380 white tape or equivalent when needed keeping the tape free from body contact during installation. Stick the emblem/nameplate to correct position first and then press it onto the masking tape or magnetic strip for 30 seconds to make it stay strongly. Take off the adhesive tape or magnetic strip from the back right door at last.
