    Q:
How to replace the rear wheel bearing and hub on Cadillac SRX? Posted by Customer
    A:
You need to put the vehicle in a lifted position to access the rear Wheel Bearing and hub. Take off the wheel and tire before you remove the brake rotor from the back. Detach the Wheel Speed Sensor electrical plug and the backing plate connection. Unthread and dispose of the wheel drive shaft retaining nut before gently untightening the upper Control Arm to knuckle retaining nut. Use the ball joint remover (J 43631) to disconnect the upper Control Arm from the knuckle but keep the outer constant velocity boot seal clear of the tool to protect it. Cut the wheel-bearing/hub retaining bolts before placing the Wheel Hub remover (J 45859) tool directly onto the vehicle. Insert the Wheel Hub remover (J 45859) onto the vehicle to detach the wheel drive shaft from the Wheel Bearing/hub before taking the Wheel Bearing/hub out from the vehicle. Position the new Wheel Bearing/hub correctly before tightening bolt sets to 125 nm (92 ft. Lbs). Place the Control Arm back onto the knuckle and bolt it in. Tighten the upper ball joint nut first to 20 nm (15 ft. Lbs.) while rotating it another 210 degrees. Put on another wheel drive shaft retaining nut and torque it to 160 nm (118 ft. Lbs.) torque value. Attach the brake rotor and link the Wheel Speed Sensor electrical cord to the backing plate before attaching the Wheel Speed Sensor electrical cord. Lower the vehicle after installing the tire and wheel.

Do not be in a rush with it, while taking off the wheel drive shaft retaining nut of that retainer nut throw it away in some fashion, the upper Control Arm you now wish to remove from the knuckle by using the ball joint remover j 43631. Do not touch the outer constant velocity boot when retracting the Wheel Bearing mounting bolts, to avoid problems. Unthread the Wheel Bearing/hub retaining bolts and thereafter attach the Wheel Hub remover (J 45859), snap on - cj129 universal hub puller, otc - 7394 universal hub puller, or an equivalent tool to detach the wheel driveshaft from the Wheel Bearing/hub. After the removal of the Wheel Bearing/hub from the vehicle, fit a new Wheel Bearing/hub, making sure bolts retaining bolts are tightened up to 125 nm (92 lb ft). Replace the upper Control Arm to the knuckle and put on a new wheel drive shaft retaining nut, tighten to 160 nm (118 lb ft). Install the brake rotor again, join the Wheel Speed Sensor electrical connector to the backing plate and the sensor, reinstall the tire and wheel, and lower the vehicle.
