    Q:
How to calibrate the Brake Light Switch on Cadillac STS? Posted by Customer
    A:
You need to start the calibration by making sure you have not pushed the Brake Pedal since any movement halts the process and forces you to repeat it from the beginning. A new calibration process must take place following any work done on the Brake Pedal position sensor or instrument panel module. The procedure establishes the base position for the Brake Pedal position sensor which lets ipm understand brake usage and transfers this data to vehicle systems through the gmlan network. Start your work with the parking brake activated and transmission in park position. Install the diagnostic tool then delete all ipm trouble codes from memory. When the ignition is on and the engine is off you need to reach the vehicle control systems menu then pick module setup, next choose instrument panel module, and lastly run the bpp sensor calibration process on display.

    Q:
How to replace the Brake Light Switch on Cadillac XLR? Posted by Customer
    A:
Beginning Brake Pedal Position Sensor replacement requires you to take off the instrument panel covering material. Switch off the connector position assurance without fully removing it and detach the power connection. Disconnect and remove the sensor brake pedal position along with the peg screw. Install a brand-new sensor into the system and insert the sensor fork onto the pin. Turn the sensor to make sure the sensor locator lines up with the extension bracket's hole. Reinstall the NEW brake pedal position sensor screw and secure it by turning to 2 Nm torque. Place the electrical connector into its proper port and fasten the CPA at the same time. Re-establish your work by setting the sensor and putting back its insulator at the end.

    Q:
How to calibrate the Brake Light Switch after servicing on Cadillac XLR? Posted by Customer
    A:
After working on the brake pedal position sensor or bcm you need to calibrate the system but never press the brake pedal during this procedure because any movement will break the test and force you to repeat the process. Start the procedure with the parking brake fully engaged and the transmission in park mode for automatic transmissions and neutral position for manuals. Start the scan tool (J-46079) to erase all Body Control Module fault codes before turning on the ignition with engine off. From the main menu select vehicle control systems to reach computer/integrating systems then module setup before choosing bcm. Choose bpp sensor calibration from the screen options to run sensor setup that sets proper readings for the brake pedal position sensor on the bcm so it works with vehicle components through class 2 bus communication.
