    Q:
How to replace the Air Bag Sensor in the Front End on Cadillac Escalade? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before replacing the inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor you must disable the sir system while also unplugging the engine protection shield as needed. First disconnect the connector position assurance (CPA) from the sensor harness connector before removing the harness connector from the sensor. The fasteners need removal before removing the sensor from its vehicle location. Use a chisel tool to remove deteriorated weld nuts before installing a new one (GM P/N 11514034 or equivalent) followed by mig weld application. For sensor mounting hole or fastener damages discard damaged parts and condition lower tie front end surface. Reinstall your vehicle with either gm p/n 11515926 or an equivalent fastener. Careful and gentle handling of the new sensor must take place before installation to prevent jarring movements during setup. Prior to mounting clean the surface area completely followed by sensor placement with front-arrow orientation and use 10 n.m (89 lb in) torsion to fasten all screws. Connect the sensor harness in place then install the cpa. Reinstall the engine protection shield while completing an sir system activation.

    Q:
How to replace the front air bag sensor on Chevrolet Astro? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor, you have to disable the SIR system first. Lift the vehicle and remove the harness connector attached to the upper part of the frame. Take of the bolts and remove the sensor from the cradle. Clean the mounting surface and fitted the new sensor horizontally to the top of the frame where the arrow inside the sensor points toward the front of the vehicle. Mount the sensor using the mounting fasteners, tighten to be 6.5 N.m (58 lb in). Take out and dispose of the incorrectly installed rivet and re-secure the sensor using a new rivet if the sensor mounting holes or fasteners are damaged. In the case of a second fastener repair, remove the improperly installed rivet, widen the mounting holes in the lower radiator support to 9.0mm (0.35 in), insert and properly seat the rivnut, and tighten the screw to the sensor to the 6.5Nm (58lb in) fastener. Lastly, connect the harness connector to the sensor and crimp it down, lower the vehicle and turn on the SIR system.

How to replace the side impact Air Bag Sensor on Chevrolet Avalanche 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the side impact sensor, you first need to disable SIR system. Remove front door trim panel, loosen the 2 inflatable restraint side impact sensor fasteners and take the inflatable restraint side impact sensor from the door. Disconnect the inflatable restraint side-impact sensor yellow 2-way harness connector by unsnapping the connector position assurance (CPA). Connecting the inflatable restraint side impact sensor yellow 2-way harness connector to the inflatable restraint side impact sensor then connect the CPA onto the connector for installation. Next, install the inflatable restraint side impact sensor back onto the door and secure with the fasteners , tightening them to 10 N.m (89 lb in) using only hand tools. Lastly, install the door trim panel and turn the SIR system on.

    Q:
How to replace the side impact Air Bag Sensor on Chevrolet Suburban 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step to replacing the side impact sensor requires disabling the SIR system. First remove the front door trim panel before loosening the two fasteners of the inflatable restraint side impact sensor to extract it from the door's inner panel. Disconnect the inflatable restraint side impact sensor yellow 2-way harness connector by removing the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) . General installation procedure involves attaching the inflatable restraint side impact sensor yellow 2-way harness connector to the inflatable restraint side impact sensor followed by CPA connector placement on the same harness. Use only hand tools to tighten the fasteners securing the inflatable restraint side impact sensor that is being installed back into the door. Maintain the fasteners at 10 N.m (89 lb in). Afterward, restore the door trim panel and activate the SIR system.

    Q:
How to replace the Air Bag Sensor in the Front End on GMC Savana 2500? Posted by Customer
    A:
You must handle the Inflatable Restraint Front End Discriminating Sensor with care while replacement to avoid impact or jarring forces. Make sure to clean your mounting surface before power application while keeping the sensor level with its arrow facing forward. The proper torque value must be applied to all sensor fasteners and brackets to stop both Air Bag deployment and personal injuries. First disable SIR and then raise the vehicle while supporting it from below before removing the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) between the sensor harness and connector. The first step involves disconnecting the harness connector from the sensor followed by removing four mounting fasteners then extracting the sensor out of the front end lower tie bar. Use the first fastener repair protocol which involves stripping a corrupted fastener and nut then chiseling off the damaged weld nut and preparing the surface for the new weld nut before installing GM P/N 11514034 with a mig weld and attaching GM P/N 11515926 sensor tightly to 10 N.m (89 lb in). The second fastener repair method focuses on replacing a defective rivet by expanding the mounting holes to 9.0 mm (0.35 in) while inserting the rivet before tightening it with a screw to 10 N.m (89 lb in). The installation process involves screwing fasteners on the front end lower tie bar to 10 N.m torque and connecting the harness to the sensor before installing the CPA while removing safety stands to activate the SIR system.

How to replace the front air bag sensor on GMC Safari? Posted by Customer
    A:
In order to replace the inflatable restraint front end discriminating sensor, you would have to disable the SIR system. Lift the vehicle and disconnect the harness connector at the top frame. Take out the bolt and remove the sensor from the cradle. Clean the mounting location; next, install the new sensor horizontally on top of the frame while the arrow in the sensor is aimed towards the front part of the vehicle. Fasten the sensor with the mounting fasteners, tightening them to 6.5 N.m (58 lb in). If the first fastener (rivet) was not correctly installed, remove and trash the fastener, then, reinstall the fastener (introducing a new rivet). If the sensor mounting holes or fasteners have been damaged, remove the improperly inserted rivet, enlarge the mounting holes in the lower radiator support to 9.0mm (0.35 in), insert and properly seat the rivnut, and install the screw to the sensor, and tighten fasteners to 6.5 N.m (58 lb in). Lastly, hook up the harness connector to the sensor, bring the vehicle down, and enable the SIR system.

    Q:
How to replace the Air Bag Sensor in the Front End on GMC Savana 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
When replacing the Inflatable Restraint Front End Discriminating Sensor maintain a careful touch while preventing hits or bites to the sensor unit prior to cleaning the mounting surface before powering it up. For security you must position the sensor arrow toward the vehicle front position and tighten all fasteners to the required torque level before deployment to avoid Air Bag deployment or personal injury. Disable the SIR system first and raise the vehicle while keeping it supported then remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the sensor harness connector. Disconnect the harness connector then remove four fasteners to retrieve the sensor from its position at the front end lower tie bar. To repair sensor mounting holes or fasteners note the first fastener procedure to replace stripped fasteners by chiseling damaged weld nuts from the surface for proper installation of GM P/N 11514034 weld nut followed by migwelding before sensor installation with GM P/N 11515926 fasteners torqued to 10 N.m (89 lb in). When using the second fastener repair method, extract the faulty rivet and expand the holes to 9.0 mm (0.35 in), then install the sensor with an appropriate screw which needs to be tightened to 10 N.m (89 lb in). Begin installation by mounting the sensor to the front end lower tie bar while fastening each of its four mounting points then connect the harness connector and CPA before you remove safety stands and lower the vehicle to turn on the SIR system.
