How to replace the front door hinge on 2000 Chevrolet Express 3500?

The first step to replace front door hinges requires removal of door sealer before scribing hinge locations on body pillar and door. Draw approximate centers on each mig weld of the hinge base before drilling 3 mm (1/8 in) pilot holes completely through the spot welds at all marked points. Drill a 13 mm (1/2 in) hole through the hinge base as well as the body pillar or door by using the tiny hole as your guide. You should disconnect the remaining weld by using a chisel to remove the hinge from the body pillar or door before removing the hinges. Deburing holes located inside the hinge pillar or door will guarantee correct hinge alignment while checking the seat zone for flatness before installation. Apply medium-bodied sealer to the hinge mating area while painting both hinge pillar surfaces and door outer and inner areas at the hinge mounting spot. Secure bolt-on service replacement hinges into the removal scribe marks meant for positioning on body pillar or door surfaces by using provided bolts and tapping plate from the service replacement kit. Install the door onto the body while keeping it aligned before you begin tightening the bolts at 5 N.m preliminary torque (44 lb in). Visual inspection of striker engagement must occur before finishing the installation by tightening bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft). Rephrase the final step by applying plastic sealer to the hinges followed by painting the complete assembly.
