How to replace the intermediate side door hinge on the body side on 2000 GMC Savana 3500?

Paint the service hinges with body color before you can start the replacement of the intermediate side Door Hinge located on the body side. The first step for the 60 door requires moving the front seat to clear the b-pillar while also removing the door that needs its hinge replaced. Before drilling you should remove the interior trim at the pillar and cut through the production body side Door Hinge with a reciprocating saw. The body side hinge needs tapes for marking its position as you adjust the backing plate backward by 4 mm (0.16 inches) before creating the service backing plate's 3-hole pattern. The drill process begins when center punching occurs on these marked patterns while using a 3 mm (1/8 in) drill bit to penetrate through the combination of production hinge and body pillar elements. This hole drilling prevents metal debris from damaging the vehicle's interior. Use a 19 mm (3/4 inch) rota-broach to drill out each welded area of the production hinge on the body side surface without piercing the hinge pillar. Use the pilot holes to position a 13 mm (33/64 in) drill bit for making holes through the pillar before you grind away hinge weld nuggets on the pillar hinge mating area. The gm 4901m-d-2000 should be reviewed first for paint product recommendations then any paint system mix is prohibited. The paint operation must follow gm refinish specifications for the pillar hinge mounting surface. After that, install the service hinge and backing plate by torquing bolts to 23 n.m (17 lb ft). The service hinge needs clear silicone sealant application over its whole edge to stop water leaks before installing the door and potentially adjusting the front side Door Striker for proper flush alignment. Reinstall the interior trim which belongs to the pillar as the last step of installation.
