Workers need to remove the door sealer before they scribe existing hinges positions on the body pillar and door. Make center marks on the mig welds of the hinge base followed by drilling 3 mm (1/8 in) pilot holes through the entire spot welds at each mark. You should pierce a 13 mm (1/2 in) hole in the body pillar or door and hinge base using the smaller opening as a guide. Any weld residue should be removed by a chisel that separates the hinge from the body pillar or door. This operation clears the way for the removal of the hinges. The installation requires you to debur inner holes of the hinge pillar or door to get proper hinge seating alongside checking flatness in the hinge seating zone. Apply a medium-bodied sealer to the hinge surface before coating both inner and outer hinge pillar areas along the mounting zone. Take the bolt-on service replacement hinges to the scribe marks from removal and install the hinge to body pillars or doors with the supplied bolts and tapping plate from the kit. Check if the locking mechanism interacts properly with its striker through visual confirmation before tightening the bolts to stand at 25 N.m (18 lb ft). After applying the sealer around the hinges complete the paint job for the hinge assembly before installing the door back onto the vehicle.
