How to replace the intermediate side door hinge on the body side on GMC Savana 3500?

The first step before replacing the intermediate side Door Hinge on the body side is painting the service hinges the body color. The replacement of the b-pillar hinge for the 60 door requires users to first advance the front seats before they cut off the targeted door for subsequent hinge installation. To drill the production body side Door Hinge you must first cut it with a reciprocating saw while removing interior pillar trim. First tape the body side hinge perimeter to determine its placement then move the backing plate to the rear 4 mm (0.16 in) before drawing the 3-hole pattern. Install the service backing plate on the production hinge section before making center punches and drilling holes through the production hinge and body pillar with a 3 mm (1/8 in) drill bit. Lightly sand the body side hinge surface while protecting the vehicle interior to reveal the 3 production welds for drilling operations which need center punching. A 19 mm rota-broach will drill out the production hinge completely without entering the body pillar then grind the pillar surface flush. Drill 13 mm (33/64 in) diameter holes through the pillar by orienting them to the pilot drill locations. The body side hinge receiving paint needs product verification from gm 4901m-d-2000 followed by a prohibition to mix paint systems. Use gm refinish paint according to gm 4901m-d-2000 specification to coat the bare surface of the pillar hinge mount area before installing the service hinge with backing plate and tightening it to 23 nm (17 lb ft). A complete application of clear silicone sealant should cover the service hinge edge before door installation and Door Striker adjustment will ensure proper door closeness. The last step involves reattaching the pillar interior components.
