How to replace the front brake calipers (without J55) on 2001 Cadillac DeVille?

First check the brake master cylinder reservoir fluid level. If the fluid reaches the midway mark you do not need to drain any fluid but you must reduce it to the midway point when the reservoir fluid level is above this marker. Position hydraulic lifts to raise the vehicle. Afterward take off the tire and wheel at the front. Put a big c-clamp on top of the brake caliper body to sink the caliper piston through the brake rotor. Position the clamp ends at the caliper back and outer pad face then snug the clamp when the piston reaches the right compression. Pull off the brake hose from the caliper bolt before discarding the two stuck copper gaskets found on the hose or caliper ends. Secure the caliper and pipe openings by plugging them shut. Then unthread the brake caliper pins (1, 2) and extract the whole brake caliper. Clean both the brake caliper pin bolts and retainers with denatured alcohol before drying them using filtered air that does not contain lubricant. Place high temperature silicone brake lubricant only on the pin bolts and retainers except Brake Pad parts before fitting the brake caliper over the brake pads into its bracket. Make sure you apply new copper brake gaskets before installing the brake caliper pin bolts and tightening them to 85 nm (63 foot pounds). Set the brake hose bolt with its gaskets and fit it onto the brake caliper at 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.). Slowly push the brake pedal 2/3 of its way with the engine off and gradually release it to clear air from the brake system. Press the pedal down 15 seconds and then restart the process until brake pedal moves firmly which seals brake caliper pistons and pads. Place the wheel back onto the vehicle and return it to its normal position.
