To check the transmission mount, first, place a block of wood that is the size of the width of the bottom of the Oil Pan between the bottom of the Oil Pan and the jack support to stop Oil Pan damage and potential engine failure. Next, after raising the transmission/transaxle to remove the weight from the mount and to induce slight tension in rubber. As you are doing so observe the transmission/transaxle mount for any of the following conditions that need to replace: the hard rubber surface exhibits heat check cracks, rubber is detached from the metal plate, or the rubber is split in the middle. Lower the transmission/transaxle and tighten the bolts or nuts fixing the mount to the frame or mount bracket, if there is movement between the mount metal plate and the point of attachment.
