2005 Chevrolet Corvette Brake Line Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace the front brake line on 2005 Chevrolet Corvette?
A: Before working on the brake hose you need to raise the vehicle and support it. Then take off the wheel and tire. Put a rubber plug on top of the brake pipe fitting and clean away dirt from the brake hose and fitting as preparation for installation. Use an additional wrench on the hose connection point to sever the brake tube from the brake hose properly without harming the brake pipe or its bracket. Unhook the brake hose retainer first then take off the bracket, hose from the inlet fitting and bolt of the brake caliper. Take away the two stuck copper brake hose gaskets from their attachment on the caliper or hose end. To set up these parts you must apply new copper brake hose gaskets to the brake caliper inlet fitting bolt before installing it to the brake hose. Affix the brake hose to the brake caliper using the bolt then turn the bolt until it reaches 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.) torque. The brake hose must connect to the hose bracket in a straight line without bends or twists. Install the retainer onto the brake hose threading. Use a back up wrench to attach the brake hose to the brake pipe fitting and turn it 18 nm (13 ft. Lbs.) when the plug is removed from the end. Reattach the tire and wheel parts before adding new brake fluid through the system and letting the vehicle descend to the ground.
