The worker will use Parking Brake Cable release tool (J37043) to lower the locking retainer of the intermediate park brake cable housing before removing the cable from the Floor Pan bracket. Start with removing the park brake cable guide nut from its mounting stud before proceeding to remove the park brake cable guide bolt on the Floor Pan followed by the park cable guides. Begin by disconnecting the rear equalizer from the intermediate cable and the right rear park brake cable connector followed by depression of the locking retainer for the rear cable housing retaining bracket. Take out the intermediate cable from the moving vehicle. During installation route the intermediate park brake cable through the park brake cable retaining bracket while making sure it fits correctly. Fitting begins with a connection of the right rear Parking Brake Cable connector to the intermediate park brake cable before joining the intermediate cable to the equalizer. Fasten both the park cable guides and park brake cable guide bolt to the Floor Pan at 10 nm (88 inch lbs.). Torque the park brake cable guide nut should be 10 nm (88 inch lbs.) after attaching the mounting stud. Fasten the intermediate park brake cable housing to the Floor Pan bracket maintaining correct seating of the housing retainer. The intermediate park brake cable should be placed into the cable retaining bracket where it can be secured before attaching its front end to the park brake cable connector. Use the vehicle descending height to cycle the brake pedal 1 to 2 times to verify proper seating of the park brake cable retainers.
