2006 Cadillac XLR Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace an emblem/nameplate on the front fender on 2006 Cadillac XLR?
A: Protect the fender surface before you put tape marks in place to guide the new emblem/set. Use the J 25070 (J 25070) to heat the emblem/nameplate in circular motions 152 mm (6 in) from the surface for 30 seconds. Use a plastic flat tool to take off the emblem/nameplate from its panel position. Prepare the installation area by wiping it thoroughly with a lint-free cloth and VMP naphtha or 50/50 isopropyl alcohol and water solution before drying. Stick a marker to the surface first before placing the XLR logo on the fender surface. The correct placement is 108 mm from the fender edge and 305 mm directly below it. Apply heat to the surface at 80-105°F using J 25070 (J 25070) and position the emblem/nameplate to 85-90°F. Hold the backing area away when you slip off the protective liner from the back of the emblem/nameplate. You should place the item at its indicated spot then press it hard onto the mounting surface with balanced force to make a strong bond. Unpeel the sealant protector from the mounting zone.
