2008 Cadillac STS Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to replace the left side engine mount (RWD) on 2008 Cadillac STS?
A: The replacement of left side Engine Mount on rwd vehicles requires the air conditioning (A/C) system discharging as a first step. Thomas should start by removing the tower brace and then raising the vehicle into position. To expose the Engine Mount top nut the technician should detach the suction hose from the A/C Compressor then place it safely aside. Lower the vehicle next and piece by piece unscrew the top mount nut of the engine. The next step involves raising the vehicle for a second time to position a screw jack and block of wood under the engine Oil Pan. The screw jack should be used after the right and left Engine Mount lower nuts are removed to elevate the engine for removing the Engine Mount. The slotted washer should be removed both from the frame as well as the Engine Mount. After placing the Engine Mount on the vehicle you should check that the slotted washer sits correctly between the components before lowering the engine onto the mount. Install the right and left Engine Mount lower nut while tightening it to 80 n.m (59 lb ft). First remove the screw jack before proceeding to reduce the vehicle height. Attach the nut from the Engine Mount top then torque it to 80 n.m (59 lb ft). The suction hose should be reattached to the A/C Compressor after raising the vehicle. First lower the vehicle, place back the tower brace before charging the a/c system.
