2008 Cadillac XLR Emblem Parts and Q&A
Q: How to replace the front fender emblem and nameplate on 2008 Cadillac XLR?
A: Before replacing front fender emblems or nameplates on XLR models use tape to protect mounting areas then mark alignment points with additional tape. A J 25070 (Heat Gun) should be used to heat the emblem/nameplate in circular patterns for 30 seconds while positioned 152 mm (6 in) away from the surface. You need to use a plastic flat-blade tool to carefully take out the emblem/nameplate. You should begin by cleaning the area with a lint-free cloth alongside Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha or a mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water in a 50/50 ratio before starting installation. In unmarked locations apply tape then measure according to these specifications: Dimension (a) sets fender edge to nameplate at 108 mm (4.25 in) and Dimension (b) determines bottom fender distance to nameplate at 305 mm (12 in). There are two measurements to follow: Dimension (a) represents 108 mm (4.25 in) from the fender's trailing edge to the product's edge and Dimension (b) shows 305 mm (12 in) from the fender base to the product's location. Use J 25070 (Heat Gun) to preheat the mounting surface to 27-41°C (80-105°F) then position the emblem/nameplate to a temperature of 29-32°C (85-90°F). Deadly handle the adhesive backing instead carefully peel off the protective liner attached to the emblem/nameplate's back side. Approach the mounting surface with the emblem/nameplate then apply equal pressure to its surface until it bonds uniformly. The last step encompasses removing tape from the surface area.
