How to replace the rear door hinge on 2008 Chevrolet Express 3500?

The first step to replace the rear door hinge requires removing the door from the vehicle then eliminating the sealer that surrounds the hinge. Authenticate the existing hinge positions on both body pillar and door before identifying the approximate locations for mig weld centers on the hinge base. Use a 3 mm (1/8 in) pilot drill bit to bore through all spot welds at marked points after which you should utilize these holes to drill with a 13 mm (1/2 in) bit through the hinge base and body pillar or door. Use a chisel to break free the hinge from body pillar or door before removing the hinges when welds remain. Start by destracting the holes inside the hinge pillar and door to allow proper placement of the hinge and backing plate and check the hinge seating area for flatness. The hinge pillar or door needs painting on its interior and exterior surfaces near the hinge mounting area while the mating surfaces of the hinge require application of a medium-bodied sealer. Place the new hinges inside the scribe marks from removal and use the bolts and tapping plate to install them to the body pillar or door. Secure the bolts at 5 N.m (44 lb in) preliminary torque before installing the door to its body position while achieving necessary alignment. Check if the locking mechanism interacts properly with its striker through visual confirmation before tightening the bolts to stand at 25 N.m (18 lb ft). After applying the sealer around the hinges complete the paint job for the hinge assembly before installing the door back onto the vehicle.
