How to replace the intermediate side door hinge on the body side on 2009 Chevrolet Express 3500?

Paint the service hinges with body color as a primary step before you replace the intermediate side Door Hinge on the body side. Begin by placing the front seat forward until the b-pillar clears out (for the 60 door at the front). Then remove the door needing hinge replacement. The production body side Door Hinge can be accessed for drilling by removing interior trim at the pillar while using a reciprocating saw to cut the hinge. Apply tape to the body side hinge perimeter to note the hinge spot while pushing the backing plate 4 mm (0.16 in) backwards before creating the 3-hole pattern. After placing the service backing plate against the production hinge you must mark its 3-hole pattern and punch center points with a 3 mm (1/8 in) drill bit through both the production hinge and body pillar. To prevent damage to the vehicle's interior the technician should sand the body side hinge surface lightly. The 3 production welds on the body need center punching before drilling. A 19 mm (3/4 inch) rota-broach should be used to drill through the production hinge until it becomes fully separated from the body side hinge pillar while avoiding any penetration of the pillar. Next, remove the hinge weld nuggets and smooth the pillar hinge mating surface. Drill 13 mm (33/64 in) holes through the pillar by directing them according to the pilot holes. Refer to gm 4901m-d-2000 to determine the appropriate paint products because different paint systems must not be combined. Mount the service hinge and backing plate on the painted pillar area after completing painting according to gm refinish specification gm 4901m-d-2000 by tightening it to 23nm (17lb ft). The service hinge needs 100% clear silicone sealant applied to its edge to stop water leaks and the door must be installed while adjusting the front side Door Striker until both doors match. You must replace the pillar interior trim as the last step.
