How to replace the rear door hinge on 2011 Chevrolet Express 2500?

Before replacing the rear door hinge start by taking out the door unit from its vehicle compartment. The removal of hinge sealer begins before scribing existing hinge positions onto both body pillar and door. Create center marks on each mig weld of the hinge base before drilling 3 mm (1/8 in) pilot holes through entire spot welds at all marks. Cross a 13 mm (1/2 in) hole through both the hinge base and the body pillar or door by using the smaller drill hole as a guide. Apply a chisel to disconnect the hinge from the body pillar or door before removing the hinges when there are remaining welds. Before installing the hinge and backing plate users must deburr the interior holes on the hinge pillar or door because it helps with correct mounting then users must inspect the seating area for flatness. Coat both the interior and exterior hinge pillar opening where the hinge mounts will rest and seal the adjacent surface of the hinge with medium-bodied material. The bolt-on service replacement hinges must be placed at the marks made during disassembly and should be installed on body pillar or door with the provided supply bolts and tapping plate while torqueing the hardware to 5 Nm (44 lb in). Checks for striker engagement should be done when the door is partially opened before final torque up to 25 Nm (18 lb ft). Sealant application must occur around the hinges before painting the hinge assembly before putting the door back on the vehicle.

A: Before replacing the rear door hinge start by taking out the door unit from its vehicle compartment. The removal of hinge sealer begins before scribing existing hinge positions onto both body pillar and door. Create center marks on each mig weld of the hinge base before drilling 3 mm (1/8 in) pilot holes through entire spot welds at all marks. Cross a 13 mm (1/2 in) hole through both the hinge base and the body pillar or door by using the smaller drill hole as a guide. Apply a chisel to disconnect the hinge from the body pillar or door before removing the hinges when there are remaining welds. Before installing the hinge and backing plate users must deburr the interior holes on the hinge pillar or door because it helps with correct mounting then users must inspect the seating area for flatness. Coat both the interior and exterior hinge pillar opening where the hinge mounts will rest and seal the adjacent surface of the hinge with medium-bodied material. The bolt-on service replacement hinges must be placed at the marks made during disassembly and should be installed on body pillar or door with the provided supply bolts and tapping plate while torqueing the hardware to 5 Nm (44 lb in). Checks for striker engagement should be done when the door is partially opened before final torque up to 25 Nm (18 lb ft). Sealant application must occur around the hinges before painting the hinge assembly before putting the door back on the vehicle.
