How to replace the intermediate side door hinge on the body side on Chevrolet Express 2500?

Painting the body-colored service hinges must be completed before replacing the intermediate side Door Hinge on body side installations. To work on the forward most intermediate door (60 door) push the front seat toward the b-pillar until it clears the pillar then detach the door which requires new hinges together with interior trim from the pillar. The reciprocating saw allows access to drilling by cutting the production body side Door Hinge. Use tape to circle the body side hinge which marks its position but start the marking process by shifting the backing plate 4 mm (0.16 in) toward the rear. The production hinge surface receives a service backing plate that requires marking of the 3-hole pattern followed by center-punching and drilling pilot holes through both the production hinge and body pillar with a 3 mm (1/8 in) drill bit. Safeguard both the interior and adjacent door against metal chips by sanding the body side hinge lightly then center-punching the 3 welded locations. Use the center punch markings to complete drilling the production hinge with a 19 mm (3/4 inch) rota-broach but stop before penetrating the body side hinge pillar. Remove the weld pieces from the hinge and smooth the pillar hinge mating area by grinding. Use the initial drill holes to guide you in drilling 13 mm (33/64 in) holes through the pillar. You should consult gm 4901m-d-2000 to find suitable products before painting while avoiding mixtures of paint systems. After applying paint according to gm refinish specification gm 4901m-d-2000 on the bare pillar hinge mounting surface you should install the service hinge along with its backing plate and tighten the bolts to 23 n.m (17 lb ft). Use clear silicone sealant to cover the entire perimeter of the service hinge before mounting the door and adjusting the front side Door Striker for smooth door alignment. Install the interior trim pieces that will be visible on the pillar.

Use the center punch markings to complete drilling the production hinge with a 19 mm (3/4 inch) rota-broach but stop before penetrating the body side hinge pillar. Remove the weld pieces from the hinge and smooth the pillar hinge mating area by grinding. Use the initial drill holes to guide you in drilling 13 mm (33/64 in) holes through the pillar. You should consult gm 4901m-d-2000 to find suitable products before painting while avoiding mixtures of paint systems. After applying paint according to gm refinish specification gm 4901m-d-2000 on the bare pillar hinge mounting surface you should install the service hinge along with its backing plate and tighten the bolts to 23 n.m (17 lb ft). Use clear silicone sealant to cover the entire perimeter of the service hinge before mounting the door and adjusting the front side Door Striker for smooth door alignment. Install the interior trim pieces that will be visible on the pillar.
