How to replace the front side door upper and lower door hinge on 2010 Chevrolet Express 2500?

The first step to replace the front side door upper hinge and lower hinge involves removal of all sealant before scribing the original hinge locations onto the body pillar and door. Use a center punch to locate the approximate center points of the mig welds on the hinge base before you drill 3 millimeters (1/8 inch) pilot holes completely through all the spot welds at these marked positions. Then bore a 13 mm (1/2 in) hole along the body pillar or door by using the smaller hole as a starting point. The remaining welds need chiseling before the hinge can be removed from the body pillar or door. Before installing, clean all holes inside the hinge pillar or door before placing the hinge and backing plate for correct seating and check that entire hinge area remains flat. Apply paint to both sides of the hinge pillar and the door at the mounting area while distributing a medium-bodied sealer on the mating hinge area. Set bolt-on service replacement hinges according to scribe marks from removal and secure them to body pillars or doors by using the bolts along with the tapping plate provided in the service replacement kit. The hinges should receive initial bolt-tension set to 5 Nm (44 lb in) before properly attaching the door to the body while ensuring proper alignment. Confirm that the lock will properly fit into the striker before completely closing the door while tightening the bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb ft). Seal around the hinges before painting them to complete the service procedure.
