How to Replace Brake Pads on Cadillac CTS?

Building blocks for Brake Pad replacement on the cts-v start with checking brake master cylinder fluid level. Reduce the fluid if it stands above half way on the visible markings. Position the car on jack stands before tooking off the tire and wheel parts. Put the upper end of your Brake Pad retainer in place while hitting the caliper guide pin with a hammer and punch until it leaves the caliper. Pull out the Brake Pad retainer by swinging it toward the top. Push the Brake Pad mounting end of the upper caliper to disengage it from the mounting pin structure. Press the tool between rotor and Brake Pad with a flat plastic trim tool until all inner caliper pistons fully engage. Repeat this process for both brake pads. Take off the brake pads from their position in the caliper. Check the brake caliper guide pins for damage and corrosion then replace them. Also examine the Brake Caliper Piston boot for damage and replace it if needed. Put new brake pads (Brake Pads) in the caliper first followed by using a hammer with a punch to install the upper caliper guide pin (Caliper Guide Pin) through the caliper and pads until it sets in place. Put the Brake Pad retainer beneath the upper caliper pin components before rotating it down to push the lower end of the retainer with force. Press the new lower caliper guide pin (Caliper Guide Pin) through the brake assembly and pad pieces to fully seat it. Set the wheel tire in place and lower the vehicle. With the engine turned off apply the brake pedal one-third of its total range before releasing it slowly. Press the brake pedal for 15 seconds before repeating this step until you reach a solid brake feel which positions the brake pistons and pads correctly. Complete the brake system by putting fluid into the reservoir then working the brakes to refine pad and rotor performance.
