How to replace the rear disc brake pads (J56) on 2007 Cadillac CTS?

Check the brake fluid level on the master cylinder reservoir before starting work. No fluid needs to be drained when the level sits between its high and low marks. Lift up the vehicle before taking out the tire and wheel unit. Press the retainer bottom to start and tap the guide pin lower with a hammer and punch until it leaves the caliper. You need to pull the Brake Pad retainer upward towards you before taking it out. Strike the top caliper item towards its mounting pin position inside the brake caliper. Use otc 7034 disc Brake Pad spreader or a similar device to press between Brake Pad backing plates until the caliper pistons fully compress. Put a plastic flat trim tool to hands to take the brake pads away from the caliper. Check for damage on brake caliper guide pins before replacing them and inspect the Brake Caliper Piston boot for any signs of damage to determine if a replacement is needed. Put new brake pads into the caliper before pushing the upper caliper guide pin through the components and both pads. Use a hammer and punch to seat the pin. Set the lower end of Brake Pad retainer under upper caliper pin and turn it downward while pushing down. Using a hammer and punch properly place the lower caliper guide pin from below through the brake caliper while holding both brake pads in place. Fit the tire to the wheel and lift up the car. With engine stopped, start pressing the brake pedal 2/3 of its range and release it in slow stages. Press the brake pedal several times during 15-second intervals until you notice a steady brake feel which places brake caliper pistons and pads correctly. End the process by putting brake fluid into the master cylinder until it hits its mark and running the brakes slowly to break them in.
