  To set the Camshaft timing which is essential whenever Camshaft drive system was disturbed start by removing the left Camshaft cover, right Camshaft cover, engine front cover, and the three chain tensioners so as to retract them fully. Rotate the Crankshaft using Crankshaft rotation socket (J39946) until sprocket drive key is at about 1 o'clock position. Mount the Crankshaft and intermediate shaft sprockets to the primary drive chain with their timing marks next to one another followed by inserting the Crankshaft key into the sprocket without interfering with the relationship of the timing marks. Torque the Camshaft intermediate sprocket bolt to 60 nm (44 ft. Lbs.) and assemble the primary Camshaft drive chain tensioner,torquing its bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.). Lock the Crankshaft using the flywheel holder (J44214) and thread the secondary drive chain for the lh Cylinder Head, passing it over the inner teeth row on intermediate shaft and ensuring the Camshaft drive pin engages in the sprocket tooth indicated as le. Mount the sprocket for intake Camshaft so that the notch marked li is aligned with the Camshaft drive pin, which is, in turn, perpendicular to the front face of the Cylinder Head. Loosely fit the exhaust and intake Camshaft sprocket retainer bolts, then tighten the secondary Camshaft drive chain tensioner bolts to 25 nm (18 ft. Lbs.) and the Camshaft sprocket bolts to 120 nm (89 ft. Lbs.). Repeat the routing and installation for the right side camshafts ri and re and check that all timing marks for the arrangement before your reinstalling the Oil Pump, engine front coverage, right camshafts, and left camshafts.

  The replacement process for the left Camshaft starts with left Camshaft cover removal. Set the Crankshaft to tdc position of compression stroke on cylinder #1 ensuring both sprocket drive pins reach their topmost position. Utilize (J 44212) to span across the camshafts before employing a paint stick to mark Timing Chain links near both Camshaft sprocket timing marks. The installation process begins with rotating the wing nut on (EN 46327) until it reaches its top position while properly positioning the bottom retention tool on the Cylinder Head adjacent to both the left exhaust Camshaft sprocket and chain. Finally, insert the hook end through a secondary Timing Chain link. Follow the procedures to install both (EN 46327) to the engine by rotating the wing nut to its top limit on the nut while maintaining contact with the retention tool block. Then repeat the process for the top retention tool adjacent to the left intake Camshaft sprocket and chain. Finally apply alternating torque to both wing nuts to secure the chain. Apply alternating torque to the two wing nuts as a method to secure the chain in place. Use an open wrench on the hex cast into the camshafts to maintain stability during the bolt removal process of the Camshaft sprockets before taking out the sprockets. Begin by loosening the Camshaft bearing cap bolts in an alternating pattern to empty valve spring pressure before removing both the (J 44212) components along with the Camshaft bearing caps and camshafts and their attached Camshaft followers. Clean and inspect the camshafts. You should apply lubricant to both the pivot area of the roller and the slot on the Camshaft followers while placing the followers directly on the valve tips. The cleaning process begins with installation of Camshaft followers onto valve tips followed by stationary hydraulic lash adjusters as well as cleaning the Camshaft carriers. The next step involves lubricating every component including the Camshaft carriers, Camshaft lobes and Camshaft journals. The Camshaft install requires positioning of drive pins toward the uppermost Camshaft carrier rotation with all lobes settled in neutral position while following the Camshaft bearing cap identification markers. First lubricate the Camshaft bearing caps before assembly according to identification marks. Each Camshaft bearing cap bolt needs hand tightening until fully seated which should be followed by torquing to 5 nm (44 lb in) using (J 45059) and performing 30 degrees additional angle rotation. Lay the camshafts in proper alignment and then position the (J 44212) while the Camshaft sprockets duplicate the drive pins. Fit each sprocket in their destined position while matching its position to the paint marks from disassembly and use an open wrench to stop the sprocket from rotating before torquing bolts to 120 nm (89 lb ft). After checking and confirming Camshaft sprocket alignment with (EN 46327) the technician should proceed with (J 44212) removal to install the left Camshaft cover.
