When working on the valve stem sealed and valve spring a dorsal
Crankshaft rotation preventions is first needed before using compressed air in a cylinder so the flywheel holding tool (J 43653) stays safe. You should keep manual transmissions in first gear and set the parking brake while automatic transmissions must have their
Starter removed. To start the process insert the flywheel holding tool (J 43653) and then take out both the
Camshaft and its rocker arms. Place the valve spring compressor (J 43649) parts onto the second Camshaft cover bolt hole and fit the others to the
Cylinder Head. Place an
Air Hose adapter into the
Spark Plug opening and connect an Air Hose. Activate the pressure to 690 kpa (100 psi) into the cylinder. Our tool j 43649 with its compressor lets you compress the valve spring. Afterwards take off the keepers and their components before removing the valve spring. Use the valve guide seal remover (J 36017) to uninstall and replace a valve seal using this same tool while confirming complete valve guide contact. After putting back the valve spring parts use the valve spring compressor (J 43649) once more to compress and set the valve keepers into position. Detach the Air Hose while uninstalling the valve spring compressor (J 43649). Place new spark plugs then reinstall Camshaft roller followers and the Camshaft. Afterward detach the flywheel holding tool (J 43653) if present and put back the Starter.
