    Q:
How to replace the camshaft in LH6, LMG, LY2, and LY5 engines on Chevrolet Silverado 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin the Camshaft replacement on lh6 lmg ly2 and ly5 engines by taking away the radiator support and valve lifters together with engine front cover and Starter motor. The j 42386-a (Flywheel Holding Tool) should have its teeth matching the engine Flywheel teeth before installation using one m10-1.5 x 120 mm and one m10-1.5 x 45 mm bolt that you must tighten to 50 n.m (37 lb ft). Rotating the crankshaft sprocket will reveal the alignment marks of the Camshaft sprocket next to the crankshaft sprocket alignment marks while avoiding any crankshaft motion following Timing Chain removal to prevent damage. Disassemble the components by first removing bolt 206 and parts 205 and 208. Finish removing parts 204 and 203 while taking care to safeguard the Camshaft bearings. Place the Camshaft sprocket bolt at the front hole of the Camshaft to act as a handle when removing the Camshaft from the engine block before removing the bolt. After cleanup of the gasket surface on the engine block install the Camshaft through the bolt as a handle while applying clean engine oil to both Camshaft journals and bearings. Screw in the Camshaft retainer (203) and bolts (204), first tighten hex head bolts created in design one to 25 n.m (18 lb ft) and second design torx(R) head bolts to 15 n.m (11 lb ft). Beginning with en 46330 (Timing Belt Tensioner Retaining Pin) installation the synchronization of Camshaft sprocket timing requires it to face 6 o'clock before Timing Chain (208) and bolt (206) assembly. Check that the Camshaft sprocket markings face 6 o'clock position since the crankshaft sprocket should display its mark at 12 o'clock position during inspection. Proceed by removing tool en 46330 and then tighten the Camshaft sprocket bolt to 90 n.m (66 lb ft) followed by 40 degrees using j 45059 (Angle Meter). Then finish the repair by eliminating both the j 42386-a and bolts before replacing the Starter motor as well as the engine front cover together with valve lifters and radiator support.

    Q:
How to replace the camshaft on Chevrolet Tahoe? Posted by Customer
    A:
The procedure for Camshaft replacement starts with radiator support removal then proceeding to extract valve lifters. The procedure entails taking out the Timing Chain as well as the Camshaft position actuator and solenoid valve. Remove the Camshaft retainer bolts (204) first together with retainer (203) with caution for the Camshaft bearings while all journals share the same diameter. You can install a bolt onto the Camshaft to serve as a rotational tool while removing the Camshaft from the engine block with utmost care. Perform an evaluation on both the Camshaft and its bearings following correct cleaning procedures. The replacement process for a Camshaft requires replacement of the valve lifters as well. A clean oil dipstick should be used to lubricate the Camshaft journals and bearings before slowly inserting the Camshaft into the engine block through use of the bolt hand holder. Initiate the bolt removal procedure from the Camshaft front section while ensuring the retaining element contains the necessary sealing gasket facing the engine block surface and remains free of foreign particles. Reinstall the Camshaft retainer (203) followed by its bolts (204) while torquing the first design hex head bolts to 25 nm (18 lb ft) in combination with the second design torx(R) head bolts to 15 nm (11 lb ft). Finish the process by reinstalling the Timing Chain and Camshaft position actuator and solenoid valve and the valve lifters and then mount the radiator support.

    Q:
How to replace the camshaft on GMC Envoy? Posted by Customer
    A:
The procedure for replacing the Camshaft begins with first removing both the Camshaft cover together with the intake and exhaust sprocket bolts. Set the j 44222 onto the Cylinder Head yet control the horizontal bolts to secure the Camshaft sprockets while upholding chain tension to keep away from Timing Chain components. Move sprockets along with the Timing Chain off both camshafts before removing and setting the Camshaft cap bolts in order alongside their corresponding locations. Leave and place the Camshaft caps in storage and remove both camshafts. Before Camshaft installation apply clean engine oil on its journals, thrust face and lobes then place both intake and exhaust camshafts back into their original positions. Install the j 44221 tool with its Camshaft flat surfaces facing upward at top dead center of cylinder number one. Place the Camshaft caps back into their original positions while bearing in mind the directional and numerical marking provided by the pins and then tighten bolts to 12 nm (106 lb in). Disconnect the j 44221 before correctly placing the Camshaft sprockets in position and removing the j 44222 component. Install the intake Camshaft washer with sprocket bolt while tightening this bolt to 20 nm (15 lb ft) during the initial stage then continue with 100 degrees of tightening using the j 36660-a. The exhaust Camshaft actuator bolt should be torqued to 25 nm first then receive an additional 135 degree turn with the j 36660-a. Finally, install the Camshaft cover.

    Q:
How to replace the camshaft and ensure the valve lifters are also replaced on GMC Sierra 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The Camshaft replacement process requires replacement of all valve lifters at the same time. The first step involves removing the radiator support and after that the valve lifters. Afterward remove the engine front cover along with the Starter motor. Use the j42386-a (Flywheel Holding Tool) and fasten its two m10-1.5 x 120 mm and m10-1.5 x 45 mm bolts by tightening them to 50 nm (37 lb ft). Remove the crankshaft sprocket until the marks on the cmp actuator and sprocket align perfectly. Start by removing the cmp actuator solenoid valve (234) before extracting the cmp actuator (235) along with the Timing Chain (208). The procedure requires caution due to equal diameters in every Camshaft journal and involves removing the Camshaft retainer bolts (204) followed by their retainer (203). Drive the Camshaft sprocket bolt through the Camshaft front hole until it becomes a suitable tool for gradually pulling the Camshaft out from the engine block. Apply clean engine oil to all Camshaft journals before putting the Camshaft into the engine block by inserting a bolt tool as a rotational handle. Clean the gasket surface of the engine block before installing both components of the Camshaft retainer (203) and bolts (204). Follow the torque sequence by securing hex head bolts to 25 nm (18 lb ft) first and torx(R) head bolts to 15 nm (11 lb ft). Use the en 46330 (Timing Belt Tensioner Retaining Pin) to install the Timing Chain tensioner guide after reducing its compression. The cmp actuator needs to be installed correctly onto the Camshaft locating pin where the sprocket teeth must interlock with the Timing Chain teeth while both alignment marks should face each other. Mount the cmp actuator so its timing mark rests at 6 o'clock before fastening the cmp actuator (235) and Timing Chain (208) by ensuring correct positioning with the locating pin. An exam of the cmp actuator and Timing Chain installation must verify correct positioning that stays inside the engine block front face dimensions. Fasten a new cmp actuator solenoid valve (234) with hand tightening until it becomes snug. Inspection of sprockets must confirm their alignment before you remove the en 46330. Begin by screwing down the cmp actuator solenoid valve to 65 nm (48 lb ft) before performing a second torque to 90 degrees by using an angle meter j 45059. Before installing the winner motor and engine front cover remove the j 42386-a (Flywheel Holding Tool) together with its bolts. Conclude installation by adding the valve lifters along with the radiator support.
