Catalytic Converter, Driver Side

To change the Catalytic Converter on dual exhaust system (Left), first lift the vehicle and also to disconnect the oxygen sensors. Remove exhaust hang bolts and hanger off the vehicle, making sure to adhere to precautions for exhaust service and using protective goggles and gloves. For installation, extract the oxygen sensors from the old part of the Exhaust Pipe into the new part of the Exhaust Pipe tightening it 42 nm (31 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall new gaskets to the Muffler flange and to the Catalytic Converter pipe flange, and then reinstall the Exhaust Pipe. Fix the Catalytic Converter pipe to the Exhaust Pipe with nuts by tightening them down to 48 nm (35 ft. Lbs.) followed by similar procedures with the Muffler to the Exhaust Pipe. Connect the Oxygen Sensor connectors, mount Exhaust Hanger and bolts and tighten the bolts to 17 nm (35 ft. Lbs.). Last, check the exhaust system for adequate clearance and alignment of all components prior to lowering the car.

Remove the nuts retaining the exhaust pipe flange to the catalytic converter pipe, then loosen the nut retaining the exhaust pipe clamp to the muffler and remove the exhaust pipe and flange gasket.

Remove the oxygen sensors from the old exhaust pipe and install them into the new exhaust pipe, tightening them to 42 N.m (31 lb ft).

Tighten to 65 N.m (48 lb ft).

Remove them.

Verify the exhaust system for proper clearance and alignment of all components before lowering the vehicle.

Loosen the nut retaining the exhaust pipe clamp to the muffler.

Secure with nuts, tightening to 48 Nm (35 lb ft).

Install the exhaust hanger and bolts to the transmission, tightening the bolts to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).
