    Q:
How to Replace a Shock Absorber Safely on Chevrolet SSR? Posted by Customer
    A:
A vehicle lift with axle support becomes necessary before Shock Absorber replacement to secure the rear axle from falling freely because free motion endangers upper Control Arm and air suspension hardware. Support the rear axle before you can take out the Shock Absorber by uninstalling first the upper mounting bolt then the lower mounting bolt. The new Shock Absorber needs to be positioned before installing the lower mounting bolt which must be torqued to 80 nm (59 ft. Lbs.) until the upper mounting bolt is installed and torqued to the same value of 80 nm (59 ft. Lbs.). After removing rear axle support the vehicle will drop to the floor.
