    Q:
How to replace the intake manifold on Cadillac Escalade EXT? Posted by Customer
    A:
For Intake Manifold replacement begin the process by removing the Throttle Body and fuel injectors. Then disconnect the power cables connected to the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor and Knock Sensor. The Knock Sensor harness connector needs detaching before setting aside the electrical harness. The replacement starts with removing vacuum brake booster hose from the Intake Manifold's rear then removing the positive crankcase ventilation hose. Begin by detaching the MAP Sensor and evaporative emission (EVAP) purge solenoid vent tube from its connection to both solenoid and vapor pipe . Remove the evap purge solenoid bolt along with the solenoid and isolator from the Intake Manifold before loosening it and the Intake Manifold gaskets. Dispose of the old gaskets. Check the Intake Manifold and clean it if needed. The installation procedure starts with setting new Intake Manifold gaskets onto the Intake Manifold before mounting the manifold. Add threadlock gm p/n 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) at 5 mm (0.20 inch) width on the Intake Manifold bolts before tightening them through sequence to an initial 5 nm (44 inch lbs.) then final 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). After adding new evap purge solenoid components and bolting the system in place with 10 nm torque (89 inch lbs.), connect the solenoid vent tube to both the solenoid and vapor pipe. After preparing the MAP Sensor's seal with clean engine oil you can put the MAP Sensor onto the Intake Manifold next to the pcv hose and the vacuum brake booster hose if present. Guide the wiring harness across the engine compartment before you join the Knock Sensor wiring and electrical plugs for both MAP Sensor and Knock Sensor. Place the Throttle Body along with the fuel injectors during the installation process.

    Q:
How to replace the intake manifold on Chevrolet Avalanche 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
To change an Intake Manifold, take off the Throttle Body and fuel injectors then disconnect the electrical connectors of manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor and Knock Sensor. Disconnect the Knock Sensor harness connector and put the electrical harness momentarily, aside. If the vehicle has vacuum assisted brakes, remove the vacuum brake booster hose from the back of the Intake Manifold and then the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose. Next extract the MAP Sensor and the evaporative emission (EVAP) purge solenoid vent tube which need to be disconnected from the solenoid and vapor pipe respectively. Unfasten the evap purge solenoid bolt , solenoid , and isolator from the Intake Manifold and loosen and remove the Intake Manifold and Intake Manifold gaskets, throwing away the old gaskets. If there is a need for it, clean and check the Intake Manifold. For installation, new Intake Manifold gaskets should be put onto the Intake Manifold and then the manifold installed. Apply 5mm (0.20 in) band of threadlock - gm p/n 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) on to the thread of the Intake Manifold bolts and tighten them in sequence, a first pass of 5 nm (44 inch lbs.), followed by a final pass of 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Replace the evap purge solenoid, isolator, and bolt, torquing the bolt to 10n.m (89 inch.lb). Connect the evap purge solenoid vent tube to the solenoid and vapor pipe. Use minute amount of clean engine oil to lightly cover the MAP Sensor seal and install the MAP Sensor to the Intake Manifold. Reattach the pcv hose and the vacuum brake booster hose respectively to the back of the Intake Manifold if necessary. Route the electrical harness across the engine linking the Knock Sensor harness as well as hooking up the electrical connectors for the MAP Sensor and Knock Sensor. Last but not the least replace the fuel injectors and Throttle Body.
