Start by taking out the Fuel Rail before you can discard the Fuel Injector retainer clip and remove the Fuel Injector. Discard both the Fuel Injector retainer clip and follow it with the removal of Fuel Injector O-Ring seals (2, 4). New fuel injectors must be selected correctly because each unit carries a part identifier stamp along with a four-digit production code that shows manufacturing data for month, day, year, and manufacturing shift. Clean engine oil should be used to lubricate new injector o-ring seals (2, 4) before installation onto the Fuel Injector. Use a new retainer clip on the Fuel Injector before inserting the Fuel Injector through the Fuel Rail injector socket so the electrical connector faces outward and the retainer clip locks onto the flange on the Fuel Rail injector socket. Finally, reinstall the Fuel Rail.
