A Camshaft Position Sensor in Chevrolet HHR is part of a vehicle's mechanism and has the main function of detecting the position and speed of the camshaft, sending this data to the engine control module so that the fuel injectors and the ignition timing can be adjusted. Usual positioned above the camshaft, the sensor can be of different positions depending on the car model. Together with the crank sensor, the Camshaft Position Sensor is used to coordinate some of the engine parts and regulate fuel injection as well as measure the speed of the engine. The effect of a bad CP sensor is reduced engine performance and hence, the need to always check on the functions of the Camshaft Position Sensor.

The first step involves disconnecting the exhaust camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector followed by removing the cmp sensor bolt with an understanding that the intake cmp setup is illustrated but the exhaust cmp installation remains similar.
