The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is installed in Chevrolet HHR vehicles to provide information regarding to speed of the vehicle based on distance covered or through measurement of the revolutions of certain components over a certain period. This data is important because it passed on to multiple computeral modules which control power output of systems like the vehicle's engine and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System). Chevrolet HHR models employ various types of speeds sensors; passive speed sensors and active speed sensors. Passive sensors oscillate sinusoidally due to magnetic interaction with the rotating mass; and the active sensors magnify this with conditioning circuits for different output levels. Thus the development of such sensors have promoted reliability and signal quality so that correct speed measurement is possible in various circumstances. In conclusion, the Vehicle Speed Sensor is very important for the good working and safety of Chevrolet HHR vehicles.
