The brake caliper repair requires use of new delco supreme 11® (GM P/N 12377967, Canadian P/N 992667) or equivalent dot-3 brake fluid to lubricate rubber parts while employing new parts provided in repair kits. Service personnel must perform brake system bleeding for all hydraulic components which were removed from the system during servicing. The service operations must be conducted on a sanitary work area existing without mineral oil-based equipment. For disassembly create a wood block measuring 19 mm (3/4 inch) x 51 mm (2 inch) x 51 mm (2 inch) while optionally constructing a second block with dimensions 19 mm (3/4 inch) x 51 mm (2 inch) x 127 mm (5 inch). Place the brake caliper into a vise with protective caps while draining the fluid from the system before commencing. Apply a non-marring c-clamp across the Brake Pad or fabricated block covering two neighboring pistons' bores while placing another block on one opposing Piston bore. Run low-pressure compressed air through the pistons to push them out while you place padding inside the caliper housing for protection. Use a flat blade tool to remove and discard both Piston seals and dust boot seals. Brush denatured alcohol across the caliper then dry Piston holes with filtered non-lubricated air before checking for damage. The caliper assembly needs replacement when the bores display any scratching or corrosion damage. The assembly process involves installing new Piston dust boot seals over the pistons before lubricating new Piston seals with delco supreme 11 for placement into the caliper bore seal grooves. Brake fluid should be applied as a thin coat to the caliper Piston bores and pistons before pressing the Piston and dust boot assemblies into their respective locations. Place a clean old Brake Pad or the fabricated block against the dust boots and pistons to guarantee correct placement. The brake caliper bleeder valves need installation followed by tightening to 14 nm (124 inch lbs.).cap the valves then reinstall the caliper onto the vehicle after tightening the bleeder valves to 14 nm (124 inch lbs.).
