Chevrolet Corvette Water Pump Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the water pump on Chevrolet Corvette?
A: You should disconnect the negative Battery Cable and the connector ends for the intake air temperature and Mass Air Flow Sensors to service the Water Pump. Detach the air intake system parts and accessory Drive Belt to start work. Fill the cooling system with coolant before taking off all radiator and heater main and secondary hose clamps with their attached hoses. Untighten the six bolts fastening the Water Pump before removing it. Smoothen the gasket surfaces and secure Water Pump gaskets with their tabs facing up before mounting the Water Pump to its engine slot. The installed Water Pump bolts require tightening to 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.) during the first phase and 30 nm (22 ft. Lbs.) at the end. Reinstall heater hoses using their clamps together with radiator inlet and outlet hoses with their retaining hardware. Add cooling liquid to the system and put on the accessory Drive Belt before placing back the air intake parts. Fit the maf and iat connectors into their right place and secure the negative Battery Cable tightly at 15 nm (11 ft. Lbs.). Put transmitter codes into the system and turn the engine on while checking for Water Pump drips.
