    Q:
How Does the Door Lock Cylinder with a Fork Bolt Lock Design Function and How to Locking, replace, and install It on Buick Century? Posted by Customer
    A:
A fork bolt lock mechanism locks the door in place after engaging the striker through a security interlocking device. Standing inside the vehicle use either the key or slide the lock knob towards the back to secure the doors. Start replacement of the door locks by using proper tools to remove the outside handle. Start by detaching the lock cylinder retainer clip and proceed to remove the lock from the handle. Installation starts with attaching the lock to the handle and then adding the lock cylinder retainer clip followed by proper installation of the outside handle using required equipment.

    Q:
How to repair frozen Door Lock Cylinders due to cold weather on Buick Regal? Posted by Customer
    A:
A heat gun (J 25070) should be used to heat the cylinder while avoiding paint damage during cold weather repair of frozen lock cylinders. A paper clip or similar implement should be used to hold the shutter door open while you direct compressed air through the cylinder with a blow gun attachment. A triggered shutdown of the shutter door will allow injection of the GM P/N 12346241 or Canadian P/N 10953474 multi-purpose lubricant or its equivalent. Repeated key insertion should be followed by key lubricant removal that remains on the key surface.

    Q:
How Does the Door Lock Cylinder with a Fork Bolt Lock Design Operate and How to Locking, remove, and install It on Buick Regal? Posted by Customer
    A:
A safety interlock through the fork bolt lock design locks the door in a closed position after the fork bolt connects to the striker. The lock knob should be slid rearward while sitting inside to secure the door. Alternatively you can use the key. You need to begin removal by removing the appropriate tools to uninstall the outside handle. After the lock cylinder retainer clip removal the lock should be extracted from the handle. The process begins by putting the lock into the handle while you install the lock cylinder retainer clip and end by reinstalling the outside handle.

    Q:
How to replace the door lock cylinder on Chevrolet Corvette? Posted by Customer
    A:
The process to replace Door Lock Cylinder starts by removing outside Door Handle followed by clipping out the lever retainer and extracting the lever located at the lock cylinder rear. Move on to separate the lock cylinder retaining clip by prying it up and extract the lock cylinder from its place. To install the Door Lock Cylinder locate the gasket into the handle while using the retaining clip for attachment. Use the lever to attach it to the lock cylinder rearward while the clip secures the lock cylinder lever and finally install the Door Handle.
