    Q:
How to Service and Repair a Coolant Pipe on Cadillac CTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before you replace the Coolant Pipe outlet, you need to think of draining the cooling system. Remove radiator inlet hose from coolant outlet pipe using the hose clamp plier (J 38185). Next, unscrew the bolt holding the oil level indicator tube, coolant outlet pipe, and engine front lift bracket to Cylinder Head. Then, remove the coolant outlet pipe from the thermostat case, but dispose of the seal o-rings. Lubricate two new o-seal ring pieces with coolant out and prevent twisting them, and install them to the grooves of coolant outlet pipe. Place the coolant outlet pipe into the Thermostat Housing and tighten the bolt for the oil level indicator tube, coolant outlet pipe, engine front lift bracket, which attach them to the Cylinder Head with 20 nm (15 ft lbs.). Finally, attach the radiator inlet hose to the coolant outlet pipe with the help of hose clamp pliers (J 38185) and fill the cooling system.

    Q:
How to Service and Repair the Coolant Pipe on Cadillac CTS? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the Coolant Pipe outlet (LP1, LY7), drain the cooling system. You then have to use the hose clamp pliers (J 38185) to pull the radiator inlet hose off the cool ant outlet pipe. Then, take out the bolt connecting the oil level indicator tube, coolant outlet pipe and the engine front lift bracket to the Cylinder Head. Then remove the coolant outlet pipe from the Thermostat Housing and throw out the o-ring seals. Lubricate two new o-ring seals with coolant, make sure that the seals are not twisted and install them around the outlet pipe groove of the coolant. Fit the coolant outlet pipe to the Thermostat Housing and tighten the bolt of the oil level indicator tube, coolant outlet pipe, and the engine front lift bracket to the Cylinder Head with the oil level indicator tube bolt to 20 n.m (15 lb ft). At last, use the hose clamp pliers (J 38185), in order to connect the radiator inlet hose to the coolant outlet pipe and fill the cooling system.

    Q:
How to replace the inlet coolant pipe (LY7) on Cadillac SRX? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before initiating engine coolant inlet pipe (LY7) replacement start by properly raising and securely supporting the vehicle. Start by removing the Coolant Pipe to generator bracket bolt then lower the vehicle. First drain the cooling system then disconnect the radiator outlet hose from its attachment to the Coolant Pipe. After removing the wiring harnesses from the coolant inlet pipe you must remove the Coolant Pipe to thermostat bolt and the Coolant Pipe to cylinder head bolt for proper removal. To start installation begin by installing the Coolant Pipe while loosely installing all Coolant Pipe bolts. It is vital to use correct fasteners distributed in appropriate locations because any replacement fasteners must carry matching part numbers appropriate for that application. Fasteners and joint surfaces should remain free of paints, lubricants and corrosion inhibitors because these substances modify torque strength and clamping pressure measurements. Succeeding in the correct installation steps and torque specs will prevent damage to all components. Secure the Coolant Pipe to thermostat bolt while applying 23 nm (17 lb ft) torque and the Coolant Pipe to cylinder head bolt at 50 nm (37 lb ft). When torqueing with a torque wrench fasten the Coolant Pipe to generator bracket bolt at 23 nm (17 lb ft). Final cooling system installation requires plugging the radiator outlet hose into the Coolant Pipe alongside harness wire assembly to the coolant inlet pipe. The cooling system then needs to be filled.
