Start repairs on the Wheel Seal by providing support to the vehicle and disconnecting parts like wheel and tire before moving to the rotor. Separate the Wheel Speed Sensor and brake hose mounting bracket bolt from the Steering Knuckle before proceeding to remove the Wheel Hub and bearing 15-series bolts then all Wheel Hub and bearing 25/35 series bolts. Separate the Wheel Hub and bearing with splash shield from your vehicle while also removing the o-ring seal from the Steering Knuckle bore of the 25/35 series. After removing the Wheel Speed Sensor bolt you must examine and replace the o-ring from the 25/35 series when it shows damage or dryness. Apply wheel bearing grease in the Steering Knuckle bore before scrubbing away all traces of existing contamination in both the knuckle bore and hub bearing. Slide an o-ring onto the Steering Knuckle of the 25/35 series before fixing the Wheel Speed Sensor mounting bolt with 18 nm torque (13 ft. Lbs.). Rephrase the following sentence. Next install wheel hubs and bearings with their splash shields to the vehicle at 25/35 series. Then install wheel hubs and bearings with their splash shields to the 15-series Steering Knuckle. Fasten the 15-series bearing mounting bolts and Wheel Hub simultaneously on the 15-series vehicles before tightening all bolts to 180 nm (133 ft. Lbs.). Also install Wheel Hub and bearing bolts on the 25/35 series and tighten them to 180 nm (133 ft. Lbs.). Attach the Wheel Speed Sensor and brake hose bracket to the Steering Knuckle and fasten its bolt to 12 nm of torque (106 inch pounds). Reinstall the rotor tire and wheel after the vehicle drop.

The replacement of front drive axle inner axle seal or bearing requires the following tools: housing drive gear seal installer (J22833) for 9.25 inch axle along with j2619-01 slide hammer along with bushing and bearing remover tools j29369-1, j29369-2 for 2-3 inch use, output shaft seal installer (J36600) for 8.25 inch axle and axle tube bearing installer (J36609). A technician should first lift the vehicle before draining the differential carrier assembly. To work on right side seal or bearing you must first separate the differential carrier case from its inner Axle Shaft housing assembly before disassembling Clutch Fork assembly components from inner Axle Shaft housing. Mount the inner Axle Shaft housing into a vise while securing it only on the mounting flange. First attach the j29369-1 or j29369-2 behind the inner Axle Shaft seal or bearing according to requirements before using the j2619-01 to extract either the seal or bearing. You must remove the differential carrier assembly and fix it in a vise before extracting the inner Axle Shaft using a hammer with brass drift. Finally install the j29369-1 or j29369-2 behind the inner Axle Shaft seal or bearing while using the j2619-01 to detach them. Put the bearing installation in place by fixing the inner Axle Shaft house in a vise then installing it with a j36609 and j8092. The installation of the inner Axle Shaft seal requires the j36600 or j22833. Insert the inner Axle Shaft with gentle mallet taps using a soft-faced mallet before reattaching all differential carrier case components comprising the Clutch Fork along with the inner Axle Shaft housing assembly. The same installation process with tools should be repeated to install bearing and seal on the left side. Toward completion you must add correct fluid into the differential carrier assembly before lowering the vehicle.

A replacement of the front drive axle inner seal together with bearing requires the following tools: j 8092 universal driver handle (J 8092), j 2619-01 slide hammer (J 2619-01), j 29369-1 bushing and bearing remover (J 29369-1), j 29369-2 bushing and bearing remover (2-3 inch) (J 29369-2), j 36609 axle tube bearing installer (J 36609), and j 45225 axle seal installer (J 45225). Start the process by lifting the vehicle before draining the differential carrier assembly. To remove the right side seal or bearing start by extracting the inner Axle Shaft and differential carrier case housing assembly followed by Clutch Fork assembly pieces and the inner Axle Shaft from the inner Axle Shaft housing. Mount the inner Axle Shaft housing inside a vise clamp and restrain it only on its mounting flange surface. Attachments of j 29369-1 or j 29369-2 bushing and bearing remover behind the inner Axle Shaft seal or bearing enables insertion of the j 2619-01 slide hammer for seal or bearing extraction. To replace the left-side seal first identify the inner Axle Shaft-wheel drive shaft alignment mark then disconnect the drive shaft before removing the inner Axle Shaft with a hammer and brass drift. The removal process for left side seals and bearings requires removing the differential carrier assembly before clamping it in a vise for a second application of the removal steps. The process starts by installing the right side bearing through the use of an axle tube bearing installer (J 36609) and universal driver handle (J 8092). Next, users should apply an axle seal installer (J 45225) with universal driver handle (J 8092) for the new Axle Shaft seal installation. The process requires carefully installing the inner Axle Shaft followed by assembly of inner Axle Shaft and Clutch Fork components to reinstall the assembly inside the differential carrier case. Execute the same installation process with the same tools to install the left side components whenever you remove both of them. The next step ends with correctly filling the differential carrier assembly with fluid then lowering the vehicle to the ground.

Replacement of the front drive axle inner shaft seal and inner shaft bearing requires j 8092 universal driver handle (J 8092) together with j 2619-01 slide hammer (J 2619-01) and j 29369-1 bushing and bearing remover (J 29369-1) as well as j 29369-2 bushing and bearing remover (2-3 inch) (J 29369-2) and j 36609 axle tube bearing installer (J 36609) and j 45225 axle seal installer (J 45225). Start the job by lifting the vehicle before draining fluid from the differential carrier assembly. Extract the right side seal or bearing by disassembling the differential carrier case which requires eliminating the inner Axle Shaft and housing assembly along with Clutch Fork assembly components and inner Axle Shaft from its housing. Fix the inner Axle Shaft housing inside a vise while gripping only its mounting flange. You must use j 29369-1 or j 29369-2 based tool to operate behind the inner Axle Shaft seal or bearing ahead of inserting j 2619-01 for inner Axle Shaft seal or bearing removal. To replace only the left-side seal start by marking the alignment between wheel drive shaft and inner Axle Shaft then remove shock module if repairing 8.25-inch axle followed by disconnecting wheel drive shaft and sealing and axleshaft removal with a hammer and brass drift. A proper left side seal and bearing installation requires moving the differential carrier assembly to a vise position for performing the same tasks again. Initiate right side bearing installation by applying the j 36609 and j 8092 and then proceed to install the new Axle Shaft seal with tools j 45225 and j 8092. Start by inserting the inner Axle Shaft while it receives light taps before adding back the Clutch Fork assembly. Return the inner shaft assembly and case components to the differential carrier housing. Perform the left side bearing and seal installation following the same procedures when these components have been extracted. Once the vehicle is lowered finish the process by adding the desired fluid into the differential carrier assembly.

One needs to collect j 8092 universal driver handle (J 8092), j 2619-01 slide hammer (J 2619-01), j 29369-1 bushing and bearing remover (J 29369-1), j 29369-2 bushing and bearing remover (2-3 inch) (J 29369-2), j 36609 axle tube bearing installer (J 36609), and j 45225 axle seal installer (J 45225) for replacing the front drive axle inner axle seal or bearing. Start the process by lifting the vehicle while draining the differential carrier assembly. The procedure to work on right side seal or bearing involves first removing the inner Axle Shaft and housing assembly from the differential carrier case followed by taking away Clutch Fork assembly components along with the inner Axle Shaft from the inner Axle Shaft housing. Place the inner Axle Shaft housing inside a vise and clamp it down on the mounting flange only. Use either the j 29369-1 or j 29369-2 behind the inner Axle Shaft seal or bearing when required before you attach the j 2619-01 to remove these components. To remove the left-side inner Axle Shaft you need to vise the differential carrier assembly before extracting it with hammer and brass drift. Directorate of logistics standard items j 29369-1 or j 29369-2 will remove the inner Axle Shaft seal or bearing when used together with j 2619-01. To install the bearing on the right side use j 36609 and j 8092 then apply j 45225 together with j 8092 for new Axle Shaft seal installation. Thoroughly drive the inner Axle Shaft through its opening before assembling the Clutch Fork pieces while connecting the housing assembly to the differential carrier case. Perform the same process for the left-bearing and seal installation while making sure the inner differential case side gear accepts the inner Axle Shaft properly. After completing the front differential carrier assembly installation you should begin filling the differential carrier assembly with proper fluid before finally lowering the vehicle.

Install the wheel hub and bearing and splash shield to the vehicle, 15 series.

The Differential Seal Installer - Inner (J 45177) is installed onto the J 33049.

Take out the axle shaft seal.

Use the J 29369-1 or J 29369-2 behind the inner axle shaft seal or bearing as needed, then attach the J 2619-01 to remove the inner axle shaft seal or bearing.

Raise the vehicle using appropriate lifting equipment.

Secure it in a vise and repeat the process with the J 29369-1 or J 29369-2 and J 2619-01 to remove the inner axle shaft seal or bearing.

Assemble the expander assembly onto the driver bar extension and then onto the driver bar.

Insert the J 33049 into the axle tube and through the axle shaft seal, holding the expander assembly nut while turning the driving bar clockwise until the expanding driver is snug against the axle shaft seal.
