    Q:
How to replace the upper fan shroud (w/RPO M74) on Cadillac Escalade EXT? Posted by Customer
    A:
You must start the duration of upper Fan Shroud installation by easing the duct clamps from Throttle Body and mass airflow sensor on the air cleaner outlet duct before removing the duct. First disconnect the a/c line retainer that sits on the Fan Shroud after which you should disconnect the engine harness clip from the pcm cover. Start by removing the bolts of the transmission central module (TCM) cover and the tcm cover from the Fan Shroud followed by loosening the tcm electrical connector bolts for disconnecting the tcm electrical connectors. Start by removing the tcm unit together with its cover before uninstalling the Fan Shroud retainers and bolts for complete upper Fan Shroud removal. Install the upper Fan Shroud in its proper position before tightening Fan Shroud bolts to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). Following this installation sequence, attach the Fan Shroud retainers then join the tcm electrical connectors and finally place the tcm and cover into position by securing the tcm electrical connector bolts at 8 nm (71 inch lbs.). Fasten the tcm cover onto the Fan Shroud through bolts that you need to tighten up to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). Install the engine harness clip on the pcm cover as well as the a/c line retainer on the Fan Shroud and the air cleaner outlet duct. The air cleaner outlet duct clamp at the Throttle Body requires tightening to 4 nm (35 inch lbs.) as does the clamp screws at the mass airflow sensor.
