Q: What tools are required to service and repair the front lower control arm on Cadillac STS?
A: There are certain tools needed to service and repair the front lower Control Arm on the 2003-2006 cadillac cts, srx, and sts. They are: ball joint remover (J43631). First, elevate and hoist the vehicle, take out the tire and wheel, and take out the shock module yoke. After that, remove the stabilizer shaft link lower retaining nut and remove stabilizer shaft link from the low Control Arm. Rip off the abs wire harness from the low Control Arm and the low Control Arm to steering knuckle nut. Seperate the lower Control Arm from the steering knuckle by using the ball joint remover (J43631). Loosen the power steering gear bolts and lift up the power steering gear to provide clearance for replacement of the rear lower Control Arm to frame retaining bolt. Go on to strip off the lower Control Arm to cradle nuts and bolts, to lower the Control Arm at the frame and to lift the ball stud up to remove it. For installation, align the lower Control Arm in the ball stud and lift it to the cradle, then install the lower control to cradle bolts and nut, nuts to be tightened to 135 nm (96 ft. Lbs.). Tighten the power steering gear retaining bolts to 120 nm (89 ft. Lbs.) then check into lower Control Arm to steering knuckle nut torquing it to 40 nm (30 ft. Lbs.). Plus 120 degrees. Reconnect the abs wire harness at the lower Control Arm and install the stabilizer shaft link on the lower Control Arm and fix the stabilizer shaft link to the lower retaining nut to 110 nm (81 ft. Lbs.). Finally, replace on the shock module yoke and tire and lower the car and align the front end.
