How to replace the lower control arm (AWD) on 2008 Cadillac STS?

You should start by lifting the vehicle then providing it with support when you replace the lower Control Arm (AWD). Before beginning the repair start by detaching the tire then wheel and air deflector. Remove the lower stabilizer shaft link through the lower Control Arm by first disconnecting its lower nut. First disconnect the abs wire harness from the Control Arm but maintain stability of the ball stud throughout this operation. Hand tools should be used to stop the rotating movement during this process. First separate the ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using the ball joint separator tool (J 43631) after unscrewing the lower ball joint nut. Unscrew the shock yoke nut then separate the yoke from the lower Control Arm stud. Elevate the steering gear to obtain space then loosen its hold-down bolts. Cradle nuts and bolts on the lower Control Arm need removal before you can pull out the arm from the vehicle. The new lower Control Arm position begins installation while the technician tightens the cradle bolts while maintaining the lower Control Arm at normal vehicle ride height. After installing the cradle nuts with a torque of 135 n.m (96 lb ft), tighten the power steering gear retaining bolts to 120 n.m (89 lb ft). Secure the shock module yoke to the lower Control Arm nut while tightening it to 180 n.m (133 lb ft). First install the lower Control Arm ball joint nut then tighten it to 20 n.m (15 lb ft) while continuing torque it an extra 180 degrees. First attach the stabilizer link to the lower Control Arm then reconnect the abs wire harness before securing the lower retaining nut to a torque of 110 n.m (81 lb ft). After installing the air deflector and tire with wheel, lower the car and confirm the front end alignment.
