How to replace the input shaft transfer case seal on GMC Canyon?

The first step to replace the input shaft seal requires complete removal of the Transfer Case assembly. The assembly fixture (J 45759) requires installation onto the Transfer Case through four appropriate bolts. Secure the input component within the holding fixture (J 3289-20) by integrating the assembly fixture (J 45759) into the holding fixture workbench using the pivot pin. There exists no protective shoulder for the seal inside the Transfer Case so employ the seal remover tool (J 45278) to pull out the seal properly. The input shaft seal removal from the Transfer Case requires the slide hammer with bearing adapter (J 23907) together with the seal remover (J 45278) according to service procedure. The input seal installer (J 45934) with a hammer assists installation of the new input shaft seal inside the Transfer Case until reaching its accurate depth positioning. Curve the assembly fixture (J 45759) from the Transfer Case before reinstalling the complete Transfer Case assembly.

How to replace the rear output transfer case seal on GMC Yukon?

The replacement process of the rear output shaft seal starts with vehicle elevation and proper suspension of the vehicle body. The first step should be to uninstall both the transfer case shield (if present) along with the rear propeller shaft. You can use a flat-tipped screwdriver to peel out the rear output shaft seal from its position. The installer tool named output shaft seal installer (J 45756) enables proper installation of new front output shaft seals. Repair the rear propeller shaft before checking the fluid level and making required fluid additions if necessary. Finish by reinstalling the transfer case shield (if present) then proceed with lowering the vehicle.

How to replace the front output transfer case seal on GMC Sierra 1500?

Proper vehicle support and lift techniques enable changing the front output shaft seal. You must first remove the transfer case shield (if present) before taking out the front propeller shaft. The internal front output shaft seal consists of two pieces which include an inner force-fit component that mounts on the output shaft. A flat-tipped screwdriver should be used first to shift the inner seal race forward before using a small pry bar for complete removal from the front output shaft. A flat-tipped screwdriver or small pry bar should be inserted into the space between the outer race lip and the transfer case to remove the remaining output shaft seal portion. To install new seals users must connect the output shaft seal installer (J 43484) to driver handle (J 8092) before inserting the seal onto the installer. The seal installation requires both tools to be used for mounting onto the front output shaft. The front propeller shaft installation proceeds next and the fluid level requires inspection and appropriate fluid addition before replacement of the transfer case shield if present. Lastly, the vehicle needs to be lowered down.

There exists no protective shoulder for the seal inside the Transfer Case so employ the seal remover tool (J 45278) to pull out the seal properly. The input shaft seal removal from the Transfer Case requires the slide hammer with bearing adapter (J 23907) together with the seal remover (J 45278) according to service procedure. The input seal installer (J 45934) with a hammer assists installation of the new input shaft seal inside the Transfer Case until reaching its accurate depth positioning. Curve the assembly fixture (J 45759) from the Transfer Case before reinstalling the complete Transfer Case assembly.
