    Q:
How to replace the front wheel bearing and wheel hub on an AWD on Cadillac STS? Posted by Customer
    A:
You need to lift and support the awd car before taking off its wheel and tire for hub bearing replacement. Begin the procedure by taking off the wheel driveshaft retaining nut and brake rotor and depositing them. Take off the abs electrical connector from its mounting under the splash shield. Use plaier tools to pull out wheel bearing/hub bolts and keep equipment away from the outer rubber boot seal to avoid tearing it. The wheel hub remover (J45859) tool and a similar implement will extract the wheel driveshaft from the wheel bearing assembly to free the wheel bearing/hub unit for removal. After positioning the wheel bearing hub unit put on its mounting bolts and make sure they reach 135 nm tightness. Reposition the abs electrical connector onto the splash shield and plug it back in place. Fit a fresh retaining nut for the wheel driveshaft and push it tightly to 160 nm (118 foot pounds), then replace the brake rotor and attach the wheel and tire. Finally, lower the vehicle.

    Q:
How to Service and Repair the Wheel Bearing and Wheel Hub on a Cadillac STS? Posted by Customer
    A:
Begin your front wheel bearing and hub replacement project on an awd vehicle by raising it to a height while using proper support. Lift the vehicle and remove its tire and wheel. Then unscrew and keep the wheel driveshaft retaining nut for replacement. First disconnect the brake rotor then access its antilock brake system electrical connection before proceeding to remove the abs electrical components attached to the splash shield. Keep the outer constant velocity boot seal secured to prevent damage when you remove wheel bearing mounting bolts. Install the wheel hub remover (J 45859) tool or cj129 snap-on hub puller and 7394 otc tool onto the wheel bearing before carefully eliminating all wheel bearing/hub mounting bolts. Repeat the same procedure to release the driveshaft connection with the wheel bearing/hub and remove the wheel bearing/hub. Fasten the new wheel bearing/hub to its place through mounting bolts before tightening them to 135 nd.m (100 pound-feet). Install the abs electrical connector onto its designated position on the splash shield and attach it. Place the new retaining nut first on the driveshaft and use 160 n.m of torque before adding the brake rotor and tire wheel assembly. Finally, lower the vehicle.
