How to replace the rear brake line on Chevrolet SSR? Posted by Customer
    A:
First, lift the vehicle; tire and wheel assembly. Cleans all dirt and foreign substance from the brake hose and brake pipe fittings. Removing the rear brake hose from the brake pipe using a back up wrench and make sure you put a rubber plug or cap on the exposed brake pipe fitting ends to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination. Then unthread the Brake Line retainer bolt at frame and brake hose bolt on brake caliper and be aware that there is a possibility of metal gaskets that may be adhering to the brake caliper or brake hose end and discard the copper gaskets. When installing, put new copper gaskets on the rear Brake Caliper Bolt, and then connect the rear brake hose to rear brake caliper and tighten the rear brake bolt to 44 nm [23 ft. Lbs]. Take out the rubber plug or cap from the back brake pipe fittings and connect the brake pipe to the brake hose and using another wrench as back up wrench, tighten the rear brake pipe fitting to 20 nm (18 ft. Lbs). Install the brake pipe retaining bolt at the frame and tighten to 20 nm (18 ft. Lbs). Bleed the hydraulic brake system, change the tire and wheel assembly, and return the vehicle to the ground.
