    Q:
How to service and repair the axle shaft and wheel seal on Chevrolet K3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
When servicing or repairing the Axle Shaft and seal always begin by raising the vehicle using safety stands for support. When servicing and repairing the output shaft first remove the differential carrier assembly and the output shaft itself maintaining case integrity. Set up the j23907 puller/slide hammer/clutch pilot bearing remover to attach a slide hammer with an adapter for pulling the Axle Shaft from the case. The j23907 tool set allows technicians to extract deflector pieces and seal units and bearing units from the system. Use the j22761 differential side bearing installer to set the bearing with the square shoulder pointing inward during installation. Use either j36600 seal installer (K2 Models) or j22833 seal installer (K3 Models) to install the new seal followed by the deflector and Axle Shaft (output shaft). Gently use a soft mallet to install the Axle Shaft (output shaft) before you reassemble the differential carrier assembly.

    Q:
How to replace the inner rear axle wheel seal on Chevrolet Silverado 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
The replacement process for inner rear Axle Shaft seal involves first performing vehicle lift followed by removal of tire along with wheel assembly and Differential assembly and axle shafts. The smallest expanding driver should be installed with the small driving washer on the expander assembly to ensure their separation lines match up. The expander assembly requires attachment to the driver bar extension followed by attachment to the driver bar. Position the camshaft bearing service set (J 33049) through the Axle Shaft seal which allows you to tighten the expander assembly nut while turning the driving bar clockwise until the expanding driver touches the seal before striking the Axle Shaft seal out with j 33049 and a hammer. You can start by inserting the drive bar extension onto the drive bar of j 33049 followed by placing it into the opposite Axle Shaft tube where you have to set up the Differential seal installer - inner (J 45177). Start by placing the Axle Shaft seal inside the axle tube before inserting the j 45177 followed by the j 33049 onto the seal and pushing it into the tube using the j 45177, j 33049 and a hammer. Follow the process of reinstalling the Differential assembly along with axle shafts along with tire and wheel assembly while lowering the vehicle to its required position.

    Q:
How to replace the inner rear axle wheel seal on GMC Yukon? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start the inner rear Axle Shaft seal replacement process by lifting the vehicle and taking off first the tire together with the wheel assembly before moving onto removing the axle shafts and Differential assembly. Position first the smallest expanding driver and small driving washer onto the expander assembly where the separation lines must match up. Place the driver bar extension and then the driver bar on top of the expander assembly. Orientate the j 33049 (J 33049) axle tube entry before moving it through the Axle Shaft seal with the hand gripping the expander assembly nut while rotating the driving bar in a clockwise direction until the expanding driver becomes snug with the Axle Shaft seal. Strike the j 33049 (J 33049) while wielding a hammer to eliminate the seal. The driver bar extension needs to be attached to j 33049 (J 33049) driver bar followed by insertion into the second Axle Shaft tube. Position the j 45177 (J 45177) onto the j 33049 (J 33049) then place the Axle Shaft seal inside the tube. Insert the Axle Shaft seal into the axle tube through combined use of the j 45177 (J 45177) and j 33049 (J 33049) and a hammer. The installation process requires reattachment of the Differential assembly and axle shafts with tire and wheel assembly before lowering the vehicle.

How to replace the rear axle shaft wheel bearing and wheel seal on GMC Savana 3500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Tools required to replace the rear Axle Shaft oil seal or bearing include: slide hammer with adapter (J 2619-01), driver handle (J 8092), axle shaft and pinion oil seal installer (J 21128), axle shaft bearing remover (large shaft) (J 23689), axle shaft bearing installer (J 23690), axle shaft bearing installer (9 1/2 inch ring gear) (J 29709), axle shaft bearing remover (9 1/2 inch ring gear) (J 29712), and Axle Shaft seal installer (9 The necessary tools for replacing rear Axle Shaft oil seals and bearings include Slide Hammer with Adapter (J 2619-01) and driver handle (J 8092) as well as Axle Shaft and pinion oil seal installer (J 21128) and three axel bearing tools: axle shaft bearing remover (large shaft) (J 23689), axle shaft bearing installer (J 23690), and Axle Shaft bearing installer (9 1/2 inch ring gear) (J 29709) paired with Axle Shaft bearing remover (9 1/2 inch ring gear) (J Start by elevating the vehicle on a hoist to safety positions and remove all components including the tire assembly and Brake Drum and axle carrier cover. Extract the Differential case screw with the pinion shaft, then disassemble or limit pinion shaft movement when working on locking differentials. Push the Axle Shaft flange towards the Differential by rotating a screwdriver on the lock until alignment with the thrust block then remove the Axle Shaft. Check the condition of each part before replacing any worn-out elements. For an 8-9/8 inch ring gear axle use the Axle Shaft Bearing Remover (J 23689) while a 9 1/2 inch ring gear axle requires the Axle Shaft bearing remover (9 1/2 inch ring gear) (J 29712) for seal removal. Use the slide hammer with adapter (J 2619-01) through the adapter to pull the bearing from its position. For installation use the Axle Shaft bearing installer j 23690 for 8 5/8 inch ring gear axles with the Axle Shaft bearing installer j 29709 for 9 1/2 inch ring gear axles while using the Axle Shaft seal installer j 21128 for 8 5/8 inch ring gear axles or the Axle Shaft seal installer j 29713 for 9 1/2 inch ring gear axles. Apply wheel bearing lubricant to both the axle bearing and seal before installing the Axle Shaft making sure the lock fits snug against the Differential side gear. Secure the pinion shaft while using loctite 242 to maintain thread seal on its screw. The procedure ends with filling the axle with fluid then removing safety stands and lowering the vehicle after putting back the rear axle carrier cover, Brake Drum and wheel and tire assembly.
