Turn Signal Switch

Before replacing the wiper and washer switch you need to turn off the sir system while taking proper safety measures. Take off the steering column brackets and trim pieces before taking the wire harness off its restraints to disconnect the wire connection. To take out the windshield Wiper Switch assembly push on the locking tabs and pull it straight out of the switch bracket. Take off the two pan head tapping screws and detach the switch mounting bracket from the side when available. First see if the bracket is in place without proceeding. If bad, take out the turn signal cancel cam and Steering Shaft upper bearing spring. Then remove the turn signal and multifunction switch assembly. Take the switch mounting bracket away from the steering column shaft unit. Secure one side mounted switch mounting bracket to the steering column tilt head using its 2 pan head tapping screws tightened to 7 n.m (62 lb in). Fix the switch mounting bracket onto the steering column shaft assembly and position it tightly against the steering column tilt head base for correct turn signal and multifunction switch parts alignment. Add the turn signal control first and afterward the multifunction switch unit. Next put in the turn signal cancel cam and the Steering Shaft spring. Use the switch assembly to press into the switch mounting bracket when needed until the locking tabs lock. Reattach the wire harness assembly while using new wire harness straps and positioning it properly into the wire restraint clips. Return the steering column trim covers and bracket before you restart the sir system.

Before replacing the Turn Signal Switch follow the required steps for sir disabling and enabling zone 3 in restraint systems as detailed. Untuck the Steering Column trim covers first. After removing the multifunction switch screws and motor connections disconnect them to take out the switch. First connect the electrical wires to the multifunction switch then place it on the Steering Column for installation. Secure the multifunction switch with retaining screws at a force of 7 nm (62 inch lbs.) before putting back the Steering Column trim covers. Turn on the sir system using the proper steps for disabling and enabling zone 3 in the safety restraints document.

First remove the closeout/insulator panel and the knee bolster trim panel to access the instrument panel (I/P) dimmer switch. The retaining clip disconnects once you pull outward after removing screws underneath the switch pad. Before extracting the dimmer switch the technician must disconnect electrical connections then take out switch retaining screws. Position the I/P dimmer switch onto the I/P cluster bezel after which secure it with retaining screws applying 1.5 N.m of torque force (13 lb in). Use a torque wrench to apply 1.5 N.m (13 lb in) force when installing the retaining screw at the bottom of the switch pad. Afterward, complete the connection of the electrical connector for the I/P dimmer switch. Reinstall the knee bolster trim panel followed by the closeout/insulator panel as the last step.

Start by removing the instrument panel (I/P) cluster trim in order to replace the instrument panel lamp dimmer switch. Begin by releasing the tabs that fix the I/P dimmer switch to the trim before disconnecting its electrical connectors. Secure the I/P dimmer switch to the trim using its tabs during installation before you connect the electrical wiring. You should reinstall the I/P cluster trim as the last installation step.

The instrument panel dimmer switch replacement starts by removing the closeout/insulator panel and the knee bolster trim panel. Start by removing the retaining screws from the switch pad base before pulling outward to free the retaining clip. Finally disconnect the electrical components. Begin installation by removing the retaining screws that hold the instrument panel dimmer switch in place. Then extract the instrument panel dimmer switch. Position the I/P dimmer switch onto the I/P cluster bezel before tight installation of the retaining screws which need to be torqued to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in). Plug in the I/P dimmer switch electrical connector before installing the bottom retaining screw at the I/P dimmer switch pad. Tighten both components to 1.5 N.m (13 lb in). The installation requires you to put back the knee bolster trim panel and the closeout/insulator panel.

Replace the instrument panel dimmer switch by starting with the removal of I/P cluster trim, then take off the switch tabs, and unplug the connectors. To install, put the switch into the tabs holding the I/P dimmer switch in place, connect the wires, and after that, fit the I/P cluster trim.

Before starting the replacement work, detach the tilt wheel lever. Begin by removing the driver support panel that covers the knee bolster. First pull apart and detach both top and bottom Steering Column Cover parts. Pull the wiper/washer switch electrical connector out of the wiring harness then press down the upper and lower retaining clips to pull out the switch from the steering column lock module. Place the new switch into the steering column lock module until the retention clips automatically lock at top and bottom then plug in the electrical connector for the wiring harness. First install the steering column covers at top and bottom then put on the tilt wheel lever before attaching the driver knee bolster trim panel.

Start with the process of removing the upper and lower Steering Column trim covers to replace the multifunction Turn Signal Switch. Next, unsnap the wire harness straps from the Steering Column tilt head assembly and the column; then, remove the wire harness assembly from the wire harness strap . Remove the 2 pan head tapping screws and then kick out the multifunction Turn Signal Switch assembly . For install, locate the multifunction Turn Signal Switch assembly on Steering Column assembly, so that electrical comes in contact with turn signal cancel cam assembly, fasten the screws with 7 nm (62 inch lbs.). Install the 2 pan head tapping screws, trace the wire harness assembly along the Steering Column jacket assembly and it's gives info, insert the wire harness assembly into the wire harness strap. Finally, connect new wire harness straps to the Steering Column assembly and the column and connect the upper and lower Steering Column trim covers.

Before replacing the windshield wiper and washer switch you must deactivate the sir system. You need to take off both steering column trim covers plus the tie straps that hold the steering column wiring harness. Detach plugs 1 and 3 from the windshield wiper and washer switch unit before pressing the holding tab on the switch to take it off the steering column. You should insert the new windshield wiper and washer switch over the steering column while keeping connectors 1 and 3 docked. Route the electrical connector to the windshield wiper and washer switch while connecting it. Put back the steering column wiring harness tie straps and trim covers. Finally, enable the sir system.

The replacement of the Turn Signal Switch should begin with the sir system being disabled. Then, take off the trim and the retaining screws, and pull the electrical connectors apart from the switch. After taking off the Turn Signal Switch, plug the electrical harnesses into the new switch and attach it to the Steering Column. Make sure to screw in the retaining screws to 7 nm (62 inch lbs.), and after that, put the Steering Column trim covers back on and activate the sir system.

Reinstall the steering column trim covers and enable the SIR system.

Next, separate and remove the upper and lower steering column covers.

Reconnect the electrical connector.

Take out the 2 pan head tapping screws and remove the multifunction turn signal switch assembly.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the wiring harness.

First, remove the upper and lower steering column trim covers.

Route the wire harness assembly along the steering column jacket assembly, insert it into the wire harness strap, and attach new wire harness straps to the steering column assembly and the column.
