    Q:
How to replace the lower control arm on a 4WD on Chevrolet Express 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
You must start by supporting and raising the vehicle before removing the tire and wheel as well as all connecting parts including Torsion Bar and stabilizer link and wheel drive shaft. The procedure starts by taking off the shock absorber lower retaining nut and bolt and then the lower Ball Joint retaining nut. Remove the Steering Knuckle's lower Ball Joint with j 43631 Ball Joint remover and j 45851 Ball Joint separator protector adapters. You must remove lower Control Arm nuts and washers before taking out the lower Control Arm bolts then the lower Control Arm. You should begin installation with the lower Control Arm as the first step followed by the attachment of the lower Ball Joint to the Steering Knuckle. Fastener notice brings attention to service precautions before you install the lower Control Arm mounting bolts. After bolting the Control Arm into position you must apply 145 nm (107 ft. Lbs.) torque when tightening the lower Control Arm mounting nuts and washers. After installing the lower Ball Joint retaining nut secure it at 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.) then complete installation by tightening the shock absorber lower retaining nut and bolt to 80 nm (59 ft. Lbs.). Reinstall the wheel drive shaft, stabilizer link, and Torsion Bar before putting the tire with wheel back on followed by vehicle lowering and wheel alignment inspection.

    Q:
How to replace the lower control arm with a coil spring on Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Classic? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace a lower Control Arm with a coil spring, raise and support the car. Take out the tire and front wheel, and in the case of vehicles with Rack And Pinion steering, the front coil spring. After that, eliminate the front stabilizer shaft link and shock absorber. Remove the nuts for the lower Control Arm nuts and the 15-series washers, followed by removing the lower Control Arm 15-series bolts. Thereafter, remove the lower Ball Joint retaining nut and unfasten the lower Ball Joint stud from the Steering Knuckle utiliseing the j 43631 Ball Joint remover (J 43631) and the j 45851 Ball Joint separator protector adapters (J 45851). After taking off the lower Control Arm, fix the new lower Control Arm and attach the Ball Joint stud to the Steering Knuckle. Install the lower Ball Joint retaining nut and tighten it to 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.) as well. Move to install the 15-series bolts into lower Control Arm, followed by the lower Control Arm nuts and 15-series washers, and tighten nuts to 175 nm (129 ft. Lbs.). At last, replace the front stabilizer shaft link, shock absorber, tire, and wheel, take the safety stands, drop the vehicle, and also check the wheel alignment.

    Q:
How to replace the lower control arm on GMC Savana 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by supporting the vehicle at a raised position and then remove both tire and wheel. Remove the Torsion Bar as the second step before moving on to the stabilizer link followed by the wheel drive shaft. First remove the shock absorber lower retaining nut and bolt before discarding the lower Ball Joint retaining nut. Use the j 43631 tool (Ball Joint Remover) and j 45851 tool (Ball Joint Separator Protector Adapters) to remove the lower Ball Joint from its position on the Steering Knuckle. Begin installation by removing each of the lower Control Arm nuts and washers and bolts before taking out the lower Control Arm. The new lower Control Arm needs to be positioned before attaching the lower Ball Joint to the Steering Knuckle. Media #7 displays installation instructions for the mounting bolts of the lower Control Arm at 155 nm (114 lb ft) for vehicles without 14050/12300 gvw and at 240 nm (177 lb ft) for vehicles with 14050/12300 gvw or a diesel engine. Fasten the new lower Ball Joint retaining nut to 100 nm (74 lb ft) torque setting. After the shock absorber in the lower Control Arm installs you must add the wheel drive shaft and stabilizer link and Torsion Bar. After installing the tire and wheel complete the process by removing support then lowering the vehicle before checking wheel alignment.
