The Drive Belt and right front tire and wheel need removal before servicing or repairing the Harmonic Balancer. Use the Flywheel holding tool (J37096) to hold the Flywheel before removing the balancer bolt as you must keep the pulley and balancer together because they require service as one assembly. Use the Harmonic Balancer puller (J38197) to remove the Harmonic Balancer through the attachment of 1/4 in. Bolts to the pulley then screw them in 1/4 in. Before installing, apply engine oil to the seal surface then mount the Harmonic Balancer. When installing the Harmonic Balancer bolt through the Flywheel holding tool (J37096) maintain 150 nm (111 ft. Lbs.) torque then complete the installation by setting the torque angle meter (J36660-A) to a 76-degree angle. To finalize installation place the right front wheel and tire in position followed by Drive Belt installation and executing the ckp system variation learn operation.

Service and repair of the Harmonic Balancer begins with Drive Belt removal followed by the right front tire and wheel and inner splash shield removal. The j 37096 (Flywheel Holding Tool) should be used to maintain the Flywheel stability before removing the balancer bolt without damaging the essential bond between the pulley and balancer assembly. After installing 1/4 inch bolts to the pulley using the j 33197 (Harmonic Balancer Puller), screw them in 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) until the crankshaft Harmonic Balancer is removed. Before installation apply engine oil to the Harmonic Balancer sealing surface and use the j 37096 (Flywheel Holding Tool) to secure the drive wheel during bolt attachment. First tighten the bolt to 150 nm (111 ft. Lbs.) and after that use the j 36660-a (Torque Angle Meter) to apply an additional 76 degrees of tightening torque. After installing the Drive Belt it is necessary to reinstall the right front tire with its wheel along with the inner splash shield.

Service and repair operations for the Harmonic Balancer require three specific tools which include torque angle meter (J 36660-A) along with Flywheel holding tool (J 37096) and crankshaft balancer puller (J 38197-A). Start the procedure by taking off both the Drive Belt and right front tire together with its wheel. You should use the Flywheel holding tool (J 37096) for holding the Flywheel during the procedure. Then remove the balancer bolt while making sure the pulley stays attached to the balancer because they service as one assembly. The crankshaft balancer puller (J 38197-A) removes the crankshaft balancer through pulley attachment of 1/4 inch bolts which need to be screwed in 1/4 inch. The crankshaft balancer must first get cleaned until you start inspecting it for installation. Install the crankshaft balancer after applying engine oil on its sealing surface while you maintain the Flywheel in position with the Flywheel holding tool (J 37096). Fasten the crankshaft balancer bolt with 150 nm (111 ft. Lbs.) of torque before completing it with 76° measured by the torque angle meter (J 36660-A). Complete the installation by putting back the right front tire and wheel together with the Drive Belt and conduct the ckp system variation learn procedure.

The first step to replacing the crankshaft balancer is removing the accessory Drive Belt and then raising the vehicle. Take off the crankshaft balancer by fitting the Harmonic Balancer puller (J41816-A) onto the balancer bolt. Put in the new crankshaft balancer after taking off the old one, and reinstall the accessory Drive Belt before you lower the vehicle.

Service and repair of the Harmonic Balancer begins with disconnecting the battery's negative grounding cable. Start by taking off the Drive Belt followed by lifting the vehicle then installing proper support. Begin by taking away both the right front tire and wheel followed by removal of right engine splash shield and torque converter cover. The Harmonic Balancer service requires installation of the j37096 (Flywheel Holder) to maintain the Flywheel position while you remove the Harmonic Balancer retaining bolt during maintenance. Ensure the Crankshaft Pulley stays connected to the Harmonic Balancer to treat them as one serviceable unit. After installing the j38197 (Harmonic Balancer Remover) you should remove the Harmonic Balancer while extracting the j38197 tool. After the application of engine oil to both the Harmonic Balancer interface on the engine front cover and the seal surface you can begin installing the Harmonic Balancer. Attach the Harmonic Balancer retaining bolt by using the j37096 to block the Flywheel's rotation and torque the bolt to 150 nm with an additional 76-degree rotation provided by the j36660-a (Electronic Torque Angle Meter). First remove tool j37096 followed by torque converter cover installation with right engine splash shield replacement and final right front wheel installation. Place the Drive Belt into position before reattaching the negative Battery Cable during the ground connection procedure. End the process by executing the ckp system variation learn procedure.

The Drive Belt removal is the first step followed by vehicle lifting before starting Harmonic Balancer replacement. Next, remove the Starter motor. Replace the transmission brace bolts (2, 3) in sequence. After that remove the transmission brace before proceeding to unscrew the Flywheel housing inspection cover bolts followed by the cover. The removal process for 4l60-e automatic transmission requires the torque converter cover to be taken off. The Flywheel holding tool (J 37096) provides manifold support for the Flywheel during maintenance. Remove the Harmonic Balancer bolt and the key from the crankshaft. The Harmonic Balancer puller device (J 38197) enables balancer removal with j 38197-2 inverted to expose its leg toward the opposite direction of the balancer while installing silver bolts (J 38197-4) to the balancer before removing j 38197-1, j 38197-2, and j 38197-4. To install the new Harmonic Balancer apply engine oil on its seal surface and position the key slot properly on the balancer relative to the crankshaft before installing the key. Position the Harmonic Balancer bolt with 150 nm (111 ft. Lbs.) torque then perform an extra 114-degree torque with the torque angle meter (J 36660-A). You should install the Flywheel housing inspection cover with its bolts that need to be tightened at 48 nm (35 ft. Lbs.) into the m49 manual transmission system. Fasten both transmission brace bolts (2, 3) to a torque of 28 nm (21 ft. Lbs.) and follow with bolts which need to be tightened to 50 nm (37 ft. Lbs.). The last procedures include reinstalling the Starter motor followed by lowering the vehicle to install the Drive Belt before finalizing with the crankshaft position (CKP) system variation learn procedure.

To service and repair the Harmonic Balancer, the following tools are needed: Harmonic Balancer remover (J 24420-C) and flywheel holder (J 37096). Start by removing the Drive Belt and then lift and adequately support the vehicle. Second, take off the right front tire and wheel, and the right engine splash shield. Assist in the support of the frame and ease the bolts of the right side frame to lower the frame for access to the Harmonic Balancer bolt to use the Harmonic Balancer remover (J 24420-C). Install the flywheel holder (J 37096) to hold the flywheel, leads to the removal of Harmonic Balancer bolt and washer. Go ahead and remove the Harmonic Balancer using the Harmonic Balancer remover (J 24420-C) and clean and inspect the Harmonic Balancer. For installation, we will need the Harmonic Balancer installer (J29113). Place the Harmonic Balancer and then washer and bolt. Put back the right engine splash shield, right tire, and wheel, lower the vehicle, and then install the Drive Belt.

Next, raise and support the vehicle.

Use the Harmonic Balancer Puller (J 41816-A).

Install the Flywheel Holder (J 37096) to prevent the flywheel from turning.

Ensure not to separate the crankshaft pulley from the crankshaft balancer, as they must be serviced as an assembly.

Use the Flywheel Holding Tool (J 37096) to hold the flywheel.

It is important not to separate the pulley from the balancer; service them as an assembly.

Clean and inspect the crankshaft balancer, and lubricate the seal surface with engine oil.

Raise and support the vehicle.

Remove and discard the crankshaft balancer bolt without separating the crankshaft pulley from the crankshaft balancer.

Attach 1/4 inch bolts to the pulley and screw them in 1/4 inch.

Reinstall the torque converter covers, wheel house liner, and drive belt, and perform the CKP system variation learn procedure.

The Flywheel Holding Tool (J 37096) is used to hold the flywheel.

Raise and support the vehicle, then remove the right front tire and wheel, followed by the right engine splash shield retainers and the engine splash shield.

Disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the drive belt.

Tighten it to 150 Nm (111 ft. lbs.) and then torque an additional 114 degrees using the Torque Angle Meter (J 36660-A).

Remove the key from the crankshaft, lubricate the seal surface of the new balancer with engine oil, and install the key.

Install the crankshaft balancer retaining bolt while using the J 37096 to prevent the flywheel from turning, tightening the bolt to 150 Nm (111 ft. lbs.) and then using the J 36660-A (Torque Angle Meter) to rotate the bolt an additional 76 degrees.

Lower the vehicle, install the drive belt, and reconnect the negative battery cable.

Remove the jackstands, reinstall the right engine splash shield, the right front tire and wheel, lower the vehicle, and install the drive belt. Perform a CKP system variation learn procedure.

Place the crankshaft balancer back in position, followed by the washer and bolt.

Loosen the left side and remove the right side frame bolts, using the jackstands to lower the right side of the frame.

Remove the torque converter covers and install the Flywheel Holder (J 37096) to prevent the flywheel from rotating.
