In order to change the front disc brake pads on the 2500 series, the first step is to check the level of fluid in the brake master cylinder reservoir; if the level is above the midpoint between maximum-full and minimum allowable points, stop up fluid to the point of midway. Lift up the vehicle and take away the tire and wheel assembly. Use two large c-clamps through the brake caliper pistons while lifting the two caliper pistons using the clamps on the back side of the outboard Brake Pad, trying to push until the two pistons are fully retracted. Take out the brake caliper guide pin bolts and be sure to secure the caliper with heavy mechanic wire to prevent hydraulic flexible brake hose damage. Remove the brake pads from the brake caliper and take note of the Brake Pad wear sensor if it has one. Removing the brake caliper from the bracket. Throw away the old Brake Pad retaining springs and check the brake caliper. To install, fix brand new Brake Pad retaining springs to the calciper bracket, align the new disc brake pads, and remodel the brake caliper. Secure the caliper and guide pin bolts tightened with force of 108 nm (80 lb ft) and re-install the tire and the wheel assembly with the lowering of the vehicle. With the engine off, approach the brake pedal to approximately 2/3 of its travel and then slowly let it off. This is repeated until a firm pedal is achieved for properly seating the caliper pistons and brake pads. Lastly, top up the brake master cylinder reservoir with fresh break fluid to the proper limit and burnish the brake pads and discs.
